Actually I've noticed that in addition to rarely wearing body armour in photoshoots, I've also rarely seen PLA troops wear ear protection other than special forces, is headset/ear protection provided to run of the mill Infantry at all?

What marketplace is this listing on? It would be weird to sell those locally in China since you can’t own a gun very easily.
you have no idea that autism of Chinese milsim cloners, there's gear you can find on aliexpress and jingdong that are 1:1 replicas of gear typically used by the military here. Not just 1:1 on looks but quality too if you can find them.

Artillery crew wear headsets:
