... their latest fusion weapon test ended in failure only disclosed in the 21st century.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I've heard Pakistan Army's statements on the H-Bomb, they've said that they have the tech if needed, but will not test it unless India does. I guess failed tests don't count lolz.

H-bomb and longer ranged ICBMs for India is a matter of will these days rather than ability. However it all still takes time, organisation, and money. Any nuclear capability added to India, Pakistan and China will both feel the need to also make sure Pakistan's matches. I think this is partly why India has felt no immediate desire to waste funds in furthering their nuclear deterrence since they already have a decent enough deterrence ie response in case it is attacked first by nuclear weapons. Something China is almost certainly not stupid enough to do especially if conventional fighting is the limit in which China is willing to go as far. However talking like India should do preliminary first strike on Chinese troops using nuclear weapons is opening pandora's box. Wielding a threat where the adversary can return with greater destruction.

Is there any reliable information about how the Doklam incident of 2017 was resolved and how this situation is unfolding (preferably with some contextual and historical background)? Indian news is a sewer and China is either silent or vague.

Only Indian voices on Doklam result and they vary quite extremely. China is indeed silent on this and I wonder how much this silence means. As for the Indian voices, well I know which ones carry more weight, reputation, and have a history of calling things as they are and showing no real emotional distress. The ones shouting Indian victory and using the opportunity to slander China, are usually random civilians or coming from troll farms.

Check out these names and their literature:

Ashok Swain, Ajai Shukla, Pravin Sawhney, and Aakar Patel. I remember them talking about Doklam and assessing it.

The victory at Doklam that wasn’t
"Through its silence, India has acquiesced to China’s military occupation of the Doklam plateau, except of course at the face-off site where the status quo has been maintained. The Indian public has been misled and the media and political opposition have failed to bring out the truth. Like the current stand-off in Ladakh, both sides did not want to escalate the matter in 2017. "
