Indian naval ships enter Freemantle, Perth

In consonance with India’s ‘Look East’ and ‘Act East’ policy, two ships of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet (INS Satpura and INS Kamorta), under the Command of Rear Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF) called on the port of Freemantle, Perth, Australia today (04 Jun 15). It may be recalled that four ships of the Eastern Fleet are on an operational deployment to South Indian Ocean and South China Sea since mid-May 2015. As a part of the deployment, INS Satpura, the indigenously built guided missile stealth frigate, INS Kamorta, the latest indigenous Anti Submarine Warfare corvette had participated in IMDEX 15 and SIMBEX at Singapore.
INS Ranvir, a guided missile destroyer and INS Shakti, a fleet tanker and support ship had also called on Singapore (22 – 26 May 15). These ships then visited Jakarta, Indonesia from (31 May – 04 Jun) and have sailed out today. These ships would be exercising with Indonesia Navy for improving inter-operability in maritime operations and Search & Rescue.
This visit to Australia is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing inter-operability between navies of the two friendly nations. During the stay in harbour, various activities such as official calls, reception on board, ship open to visitors, guided tours for Indian naval personnel and professional interaction between personnel of both the navies, are planned. Vice Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command is also visiting Freemantle, Perth to participate in the professional interactions.

No recourses are given and considering the INSAS is... Prone to jamming, over weight, poorly built, lacks any accessory rails and generally hated by the Indian troops regarded as the bastard child of the AK and was recently pulled from service in the front line of Cashmere. One wonders just what in the heck is going on? Also there given reason boggles the mind. "none of the entered competing foreign made weapons were of necessary quality?
Second best is they miraculously pulled off a indigenous replacement... Not likey worst case INSAS.

The Aroor unit of Keltron has bagged order worth Rs.4.5 crore for the manufacture and supply of two Towed Receiver Array (TRA) for naval vessels through tender, from the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi, one of the major R&D laboratories of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), an official release from Keltron said on Tuesday.

The DRDO has developed the new TRA with enhanced detection capabilities than the existing ones, using advanced technologies.

In six months

Keltron, the manufacturing partner of DRDO for Sonar Arrays, has to supply the systems within six months.

The Karakulam unit of Keltron in Thiruvananthapuram has also secured orders from Bharat Electronic Ltd., (BEL), Bangalore, worth Rs.2.85 crore for the supply of three third generation Underwater Acoustic Communication System. Keltron is the only company in India manufacturing and supplying the same for naval ships.

India, China interested in buying Russia’s new tanks Armata - media

MOSCOW, June 4. /TASS/. India, China and Southeast Asia countries have shown interests to new Russian armoured vehicles demonstrated during the Victory Parade on May 9, Russian president’s aide for military technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin said in an interview with the Izvestia daily published on Thursday.

According to Kozhin, Russia’s traditional partners are interested in buying infantry combat vehicles and Armata tanks. "Interest has been demonstrated. The weapons are new and expensive. For the most part, by our traditional partners: India, China and Southeast Asia," he said.

He said that the new weapons demonstrated at the parade would be first supplied to the Russian army and only in perspective would be sold to foreign states. So far, Russia is selling weapons under current orders.

In a military parade on Moscow’s Red Square on May 9, the Russian military displayed a variety of armored cars, including the Tiger and the Typhoon vehicles, and newest means of transportation for the Airborne Troops, infantry combat vehicles BMD-4M.

The tank section of the march-past featured the T90A tanks and a new arrival in the field, the Armata tank that has an entirely new multirole platform, which the manufacturer, the world-famous Uralvagonzavod corporation plans to use for a long range of other army vehicles.

The newspaper cites experts as saying that it would be possible to speak about commercial lots only in a span of three years.
