Haha you are too funny. What I mean is that in the beginning they say: in a galaxy long long ago... or somethinkg like that.

Hmm. Reminds me of an interesting question. Exactly what timeframe would the Star Wars galaxy be in? yes, it's set "a long time ago", but is it TOO long ago to allow for Earthlike planets?

While the universe formed roughly 15 billion years ago, it wasn't until 10 billion years ago that enough heavy elements had been created to form a planet like Earth.

'A long time ago' is fine is we're talking about a few billion years, but a dozen billion years - that's too long.

What I love about the Star Wars Universe is that it's HUGE! You've got so many different species, each with their own background and traits, and the Expanded Universe (with its lousy writing most of the time) makes it a nice place to explore and read about.

I also love how some Republicans compared the Emperor and his policies to George W. Bush, and bashed Episode III for it. Hey, it's not Lucas's fault that 'our great leader' turned out like that...

I heard on the radio when the last episode was in theaters some guy witnessed at some theater in Los Angeles a guy dress up to look like Yoda, ears and green paint on his face, crying in the men's room about the parallels to the Bush administration in the movie. He wanted to start a drive to get Congress to draw up a law to force George Lucas to change the movie so that the Jedi were the destroyers of democracy and freedom while turning the Empire into the good guys.

Wow. I mean, that's just... wow.

Hey, there really IS a roll eyes emotion!

Back to my railroading this off-topic... Lucas claimed that he had the entire storyline thought out in the 70s when he first started making the Original Trilogy, as opposed to pulling it out of his ass.

I personally think it's a load of bull, he really had no idea what he wanted to do with the prequels, but that doesn't mean I think he made the storyline like that just to spite the administration.

As long as we're off-topic of SG and on topic Star Wars... what are your favorite SW movies? For me, Episode III and Episode V... The Empire rocks.

star trek is a wet dream of western elitism with pathetic special effects
evem star wars offers a more realistic look at the future with its version of earth politics

The original Star Trek TV series was both a Sci-Fi show, and commentary on the socio-political situation of the time. If you evaluate the show based on the time period that it was produced, it'd make a lot more sense.

I'll cite one example, the character Lieutenant Uhura, played by Michelle Nichols. In that period, Hollywood would only typecast blacks in subservient roles. The character Uhura on ST was the first time that a black women was casted as being of equal status to whites, working in the same "office" (star ship bridge) as Chief Communications Officer. She also held the rank of Lieutenant in the original TV series.

Star Trek was also the first TV show to display an interracial kiss scene between Kirk and Uhura. It ran against established norms and upset a lot of people back then. Today we don't think of interracial couple kissing to be a big deal, but back in the 1970's it was shocking to many. For example, Larry Flint, who ran the magazine Hustler, was shot in 1978 by someone who was offended that he ran a nude photo shoot of a white female with a black male.

STAR WARS, on the other hand, is often looked down by blacks because it centers around the theme of white/light = good, dark/black = evil.

The thing I hated about SG-1 was they "stole" so many ideas from post-original Star Trek TV series and then you saw Star Trek stars appear on SG-1.

As for the best Star Wars movies... the original three.

Hell, let's throw in other Sci-Fi shows...

Original Battlerstar Galactica... fun in it's own cheesy way.

New Battlestar Galactica... Pro: better special effects and you never see the same space battle scenes reused like the original did. Con: The problem I have with the new show is it's too familiar with American culture. How do they have a Hummer in another galaxy? I love how they try to make the new human-looking Cylons out to be advanced technology when it's ironically about budget and they don't have the money to make great costumes or special effects.

Star Trek: TNG... Turned out to be great with its own identity apart from the original.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine... two words... Dominion War. Yeah, baby!

Star Trek: Voyager... could've been better.

Star Trek: Enterprise... Saw what was coming before it started. Not at all grtty as the promoted hype before it first aired. Set a show in the past with a history and you're automatically trapped with what you can do with stories.

Which brings a possible problem for the upcoming Star Wars: The TV Series. It's suppose to take place between episodes III and IV. First they said it was going to about new people and some of the minor characters seen in the movies. Now I hear it's going to be about Luke in his younger years. Now that's really going to limit the stories. It should be set after the movies where there's no restrictions to history.
