Seems people arrested further into the turmoil with black gear, won't be getting much of break with riot charges."Protesting" is one thing, the intimidation that boiled our blood is another.
Judge Chan said he did not believe that the three “suddenly and passively” appeared at the protest as it was “already widely reported on internet and television news.”

“I don’t believe that a normal citizen – wearing dark-coloured clothing and carrying protective gear – would go to the scene as a bystander,” Chan said.

I guess some thought they could hide on the internet. Not sure how Telegram works, but I thought it was supposedly sorta "safe". Maybe he dox himself?

Had to do a double take but a 2nd guy got arrested/sentence for running a telegram group advocating secession. Unfortunately for him, he got charged and convicted under the NSL. The judge wanted to reduce his sentence to 3.5 years from the 5 year mandatory because he pleaded guilty, but the prosecutor objected because the NSL specify 5 years as absolute min.
