Hong-Kong Protests

While I agree that those particular HK nurses' political demands have nothing to do with the situation at hand, all staff including nurses at HK public clinics and hospitals are already routinely overworked and it is a fundamental systemic issue that has been brewing for years and is past time to be addressed by local authorities.

Normally, I won't have an issue with what you're saying. I know exactly how hard public employees like nurses, and like myself, a lecturer work. (I have worked in both private and public organisations.)

But trouble is, their grievance is driven by ideology and politics as opposed to the working conditions. They are calling for the strikes simply to get at the government, for their own version of "freedom and democracy"!

They are trying to keep the momentum going now the movements have ran out of steam, with both money and support from foreign government running dry now the trade deal is done!

Further, their timing is impeccable, given what's happening in China! If I was a nurse in Hong Kong, I will be asking the government to let me go and help our compatriots in Wuhan just like all those service men and women are doing. (JFK, ask not what your country could do for you, ask instead of what you could do for your country). Instead of fighting a lost cause.

What get me is, that these nurses were seen recently with one hand over their eye! Come on, didn't they get the memo of the "blinded girl" witholding medical records! That should tell you something is amiss if they only have half a brain!

We are in agreement then.

It is insane that these rioters would use threat of home made bomb to compel doctors and nurses from working.

Police suspect hospital bomb linked to Hong Kong protests, as Telegram message warns of ‘more to come’ and demands border closure amid Wuhan virus crisis
  • Caritas Medical Centre patients evacuated as accident and emergency services reduced in aftermath of explosion, but no injuries recorded
  • Online message following incident calls for strike, closing of city’s borders with mainland to stop Wuhan virus outbreak

Hong Kong police are investigating whether a bomb explosion at a public hospital on Monday is linked to anti-government protest violence, according to sources, suspecting the home-made device may have been detonated to pressure the government into closing the city’s borders with mainland China in response to the deadly new coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan.

The incident occurred after a warning two weeks ago by Secretary for Security John Lee Ka-chiu, who said there were “high risks of home-made bombs”, following similar cases police have uncovered in recent months.

In the latest case, nobody was injured when the device went off in a men’s toilet cubicle at Caritas Medical Centre in Cheung Sha Wan at about 2.30am, a spokesman for the public hospital in Kowloon said.

Desperation of fighting a loss cause. There's still a hard-core of thugs who refuse to give up. I've plenty more videos and images of their handiwork judt fron the lunar new year alone. But since everyone's attention has turned to Wuhan, I stop posting on it. But it doesn't mean it stop!

The strikes call by the nurses is despicable considering what happened with nurses in Wuhan. But what so annoying is its not at all supported, so the strikers are using intimidation and violence to force others to participate!

Is anyone surprised? It's like Congressman Steve King recently complained he doesn't want to be called a racist for all the racist comments he makes. Yeah, he wants the benefits from racism but he doesn't want to be called a racist. These Hong Kongers want all the positive prejudices and romanticism therefore rewards of thinking themselves as being Western, but they don't actually practice doing the deed. Hippocratic oath anyone? Yes let's judge Hitler by how he treated his fellow Nazis and not by how he treated every else... And it's that attitude to why there's the stereotype of bad-behaving Chinese that Hong Kongers are happy to paint on Mainland Chinese and not themselves. Like I said before in this forum, I've been hearing the stereotype in the US of the rude Chinese tourist for decades long before Mainland Chinese were even allowed to travel overseas. So where did these stereotypes come from? Hong Kongers and Taiwanese. Do they actually believe in democracy and freedom when they viciously attack people who don't follow them? So what's the only difference between a Hong Konger and Taiwanese with a Mainland Chinese? One butt-kisses the West while the other doesn't. The behavior of Hong Kongers is nasty and vile and they think they're the civilized ones.
