I know it's been a while since this thread was made and now it has nearly 400 pages with thousands of replies.
But I think I speak for many when I say it's time to end this political discussion sh*t. This is a defense forum not a political one.
HK protest will go on but so will China's rise. Eventually HK and its economy will be insignificant to mainland. There will always be tensions between HK and mainland, mostly caused by HK ignorant youth aspiring for something that is completely untenable and devoid of reality; also pushed by those (Taiwan, US) looking to use HK as a geopolitical tool.
But eventually many years from now, those youth will mature and face the reality of things. Their aspirations will disappear and so will the tensions.
Until that time comes, the tensions will remain. We can't keep talking about them or this thread will reach 2000+ pages.
Unless something extraordinary happens in HK, I think its time people step back and simply observe what's happening there.
