Stephen McDonell is very anti-China and pro-rioters but I guess even he has enough of their nonsense and lies for not owing up to any wrongdoings.

This is just sad.
Discussing with a friend of mine, I said, I can understand if people do not CPC, CPC is not China. I think it is reasonable for them to wave ROC flags, because it is still Republic of CHINA. To want to be slaves to foreign regime, it is just a shame.

HK people were literally 2nd class citizens under British rule, no right to live in UK proper, no voting/representation in Parliament, and until the 70's, no hope in holding important government positions. Do they know this history?

This is why you know they have no future, they do not even know their own past.

After the handover, they did not go far enough in decolonizing. As someone said, there should be no Prince Edward station, in addition, there should be no King's Road, Queen's Road, etc. The government also should have pushed through the National education regardless of the concerns.

It seems to me most people in this thread are UK/USA/CAN/AUS Chinese with HK roots. Thus we are inundated with the constant "Fighting for Freedom" lie since these countries are within the US sphere.

Anyone here from SE Asia? I feel like the story is a little different in places like SG and Malaysia.

It was me that mentioned prince edwards station! Lol

I agree with much of what you said. I was born in HK. I have seen HK develope from a third world place (yes we calles it third world when I was growing up) to one of the riches place in the world.

This was all done through hard work of its people. I remember putting plastic flowers together to suppliment family income whilest still in junior school aged 6. My hands were numb! Putting out plastic shoes to dry, not knowing chemicals used to make it taste awful for days.

My elder brothers having to come out to work aged 12, when I enter school age, because my parents couldn't afford school fees for both.

I could go on.

The point I'm making is we have to do this because the British colonial rulers couldn't careless. The governer at the time called it intervention by not intervention! Lol

So, the sacrifice of pervious generations made this generation (most of them born post hand over period) life much easier. They have much more than we ever did. Yet, and this is the killer punch! They somehow been brain washed into thinking the colonial days are better, and therefore wanting to go back to those days BY destroying everything that got in their way!

I'm very sadden by all this!

No! Don’t want these low live unskilled, uneducated, uncouth cockroaches in my backyard.

Lol. Its about time the land down under do their bit for the world. Better still, send them to our friend who is strong on law and order, and let him take care of his "law abiding" citzens!

At the risk of being slightly off-topic, but in line with what I wrote above (just to show the absurdity of those HK people)

If you don't read the story, it is essentially the story of a woman who's outward appearance is typical African American. Her mother was biracial Jamaican Chinese and looked Chinese. To better understand her family history, she embarked on a multi-year journey to discover her roots. This is the most telling quote.

If she wants to be Chinese, then I welcome her with open arms!

I believe I speak for many posters here that we would very much appreciate it if you share coverage of Hong Kong from Singapore and Malaysia.
