Hong-Kong Protests

In the short term, rioters won't return. As many rioters have been jailed, fled, or financially broken. NSL is a strong deterrence but the sentencing is a mix as some got away with little or no punishment as many judges are pro-rioters.

In the long term, I am not so sure. Judicial, media, and education are still pro-rioters and unfriendly to the HK government. That means new recruits are possible. There are too many idiots in HK that it might not be impossible to incite more riots.

Not all is well in McBNO land:

"In a statement, he said that his wife - who is known to him as "Maggie" - had "acted out of character due to stress" resulting from their move abroad. Mr Eng previously worked as a manager for an international bank in his home country, and is now employed at a a regional distribution centre(amazon package handler??) - but lost more than £3,000 in earnings while off sick."

Trial is finally up for the 47. My guess is most of them will just get the 5-10 year with time serve.

Update on the trial

Looks like the "activists" were compromised

Also looks like one of them ratted out the others before trial
Ouch

They were a loose bunch to begin with, even back in 2019 they were infighting about who did what, who took credit...

Dangle "reduced sentence" in front of them and a few will drop to their knees quicker than a porn star.

Benny "more idiot than intellectual" Tai (stealing from and paraphasing Nassim Nicholas Taleb) also theorized that legions of HK youths would rise up to be his army, dance to his tune and fight the police...turning the streets of HK into rivers of blood, and thus triggering widespread western sanctions against the SeeSeepee (because decoupling is just so easy).

Didn't work out... his youth army, despite single-digit incidents of violence against the police, ran like roaches when the lights come on at every encounter with the cops, which were so disciplined and well-behaved that not a single roach got killed. Benny's roach soldiers were even more keyboard warrior Otakus than the wanwanese, who at least did a few months of military drills.

Benny's 10-point plan for HK revolution, which didn't go according to plan...

Those Hong Kong separatists broke so easily. Just send a few to jail for a year - not even an objectively long time - and they all give up. Agnes Chow capitulated after just half a year in jail.

Anyways, lesson learned for them. Don't trust a cockroach to be your soldier.
