Regarding Beijing not stepping in, could it possible be calculations/reasons such as:

- Being able to show to Taiwan and the world that they are upholding the 2049 plan of reuniting (or w/e it was), although Hong Kong has already been branded as 'not-free' after 2019 and with the law about how the politicians had to be loyal to China.
or
- Letting the current Hong Kong administration continue on, and in say a bit time down the road, begin putting a heavy hand there (as they can take over media, and begin showing the inhabits: See your administration choosen by your democratic voting system was pretty useless, and now we're coming in to clean the mess and force Tycoons etc. to actually improve conditions).
- The above could also be combined with the fact that Beijing might just not have the spare time to really worry that much about Hong Kong (I mean there must be A LOT that has to be done, China is big afterall and we got russo-ukraine war, the Taiwan situation which from rhetoric is something Beijing wants solved THIS DECADE which might have to go the military route, and there's semi conductors, possible full on sanctions from US in the future etc.).

Too simple, sometimes naive.

Wong had years of experience working as a wholesale supplier of tea at a traditional cafe, or cha chaan teng. Could Britons, the global arbiters of what constituted a good cup of tea, possibly embrace Hong Kong’s take on their national drink, one that relied heavily on milk and leaves sourced from Sri Lanka?

Although British colonialists had brought their tea-drinking habits to the trading outpost roughly 180 years ago, Wong saw his venture as a way to return the favour, while “adding the Hong Kong spirit”.

I wonder if this anglo woman realizes who taught her ancestors what tea is?

If after 300 years your "tea" is still only drinkable with additives such as milk or sugar, then you truly do not have the ability to make or judge tea.

The HK rioters were planning to become armed insurgents.

On March 20, HK police busted a rioter hideout. Weapons and cashes (mostly in foreign currencies) are among the findings. A man and a woman are in custody.

They had been trying to recruit "militias" in disguise of martial arts training classes.

This sect of HKers are so damn immature in their understanding of military, politics, and real life. Just look at their childish names: "Black Samurai Army" "Ghost-buster Squad training class". My goodness..... This is Power Ranger level of..... I can't with these guys...

Kinda interesting to watch in the background. Seems most HK arriving regardless of degree or lack of degree will end up being temp factory workers for recruitment firms. As with most western countries, companies capitalize on cheap hard workers with Visa issues.

Companies are definitely preying on these folks for $$$. People are spending 10-25k USD to move their pets abroad a charter aircraft. The only sane person was the guy (whom immigrated back to the HK after living in freedom land) running the company preying on people that are charging people an arm and a leg. He said with the demonstration overs, life is mostly back to normal and the emotion (thinking its life or death) has mostly subsided for most.

I don't think they have some it takes to become factory workers. Reading from FB, IS, and forums, most of them end up with being a waitress in Chinese restaurant, a delivery guy or warehouse workers. Majority of them still don't have a job and relying upon their savings.
