Hong-Kong Protests

SCMP try to appear "impartial", but they only end up looking schizophrenic.
I think a civil war is going on inside SCMP.

On one side are the propagandists, doing the bidding of their Western masters; the London-worshippers are probably the incumbents, as Hong Kong was ruled by Britain for so long.

On the other side are those who want to tell the truth, knowing that SCMP would not survive if it gets a liar's reputation.

The SCMP is a treasonous organisation. Do you remember when they exposed some material that was farmed in Xinjiang was going to a foreign company, and then the company stopped buying it from Xinjiang?

I said it then, that when that happened the national security law should have been applied immediately and it should have been shut down for harming China's development

Not civil war but clash of views. It's better that SCMP stays that way. Even Fox News have some not so right leaning folks ( Chris Wallace) to ensure it is "balanced".

Its important that SCMP is ambiguous with its true leanings. As long as it includes pro - PRC content and opinions, it will serve China.

That is what I mean by civil war inside SCMP: a strong, enduring opinion clash.

I have long thought that Beijing should finance a loyal media organization in Hong Kong, one which always tells the truth, no matter what. Of course, the local propagandists will accuse the new channel of promoting propaganda, but if it sticks to the truth, over time the people will see who is lying.

Beijing is incompetent on PR and media. It should stay away from it because it will make HKongers even more distrustful of the Central Gov

No, not at all. Beijing's ability to communicate with and win over Chinese minds and hearts is at least as good as what any other government can do with their citizens. Hong Kong is a place filled with patriots, undecided Chinese, and those who have been rotted and black-hearted by the West. Only the last group will distrust Beijing no matter what. The first 2 groups are the target audience.
