You have to be really dumb to have a photo taken of yourself meeting a foreign gov to help overthrow your own countrie's govt. They say covid19 causes brain damage... maybe it begun in hk a year earlier and was mistaken as the flu

What I find really pathetic is when I see these people in photos with garbage like Big Mac Pompeo (picture 1) and Tom KKKotton. Those two are just garbage racists.

People willing to betray their country have usually don't have to do overly complicated mental gymnastics to justify their actions. It's usually simple like "my country will lose, so collaborating will be better".

It's one thing to be a "little Wang Jingwei", but to cozy up to guys who think you are basically wild dogs, that's something else. Just a total lack of self respect.

I'll put this here since the mayor of Dublin was born in Ireland to parents that were from Hong kong.

Also, it's quite appropriate since certain members here thinks that the 2 millions BNO coming into the UK is not a problem at all. And the politicians also think it isn't a problem either, suggesting this as a way to help these BNO holders, is either lying or just plain delusional, or just playing politics to make China look bad.

Take your pick.

Her response below is pretty funny.

"I'd love to Rebecca but I called my mam to put your order in and sadly she said we don't serve racists or trolls. It's nice you like our cooking so do come back again to try and order when you've learned some manners. Good that you decided to lay off the bats though. Best-Hazel"

When I first saw the picture of the two I thought it was an Anglo and an Asian version of the same person.

Tbh I'm not all that concerned about racism in historically white places like EU.

It's racism from whites in the Americas and Australia that makes no sense.

Anglo dominated culture across the FVEYEs are highly insecure about their own sense of identity; the ruling classes have tried to create a sense of 'white identity' with shared privileges as opposed to shared history. That's why in america or australia for instance, a fresh off the plane slovak will be more readily accepted than a fourth generation chinese australian from the gold rush days.

My theory , please let me know if I am wrong...

Colonial HK was founded on the basis of a weak China and monopolized trade, and designed to favor the ultra-wealthy colonialists. To the extent HK can monopolize trade off a weak China, there was enough wealth to trickle-down to HK's booming population.

Now that China is strong and, bypassing HK for trade, BUT the colonial structure favoring the ultra-rich still remains. Essentially, HK is reduced to a tax haven, money laundering center, and playground for ultra-wealthy around the world.

This is a recipe for long-term civil unrest, esp. with 7.5 million population.

Half that population needs to find better economic opportunities on the mainland. Have you ever seen a tax haven with population over 1 million? Most are 500K at most... HK at 7.5 million is unsustainable.

I'm really surprised that HK doesn't have Internet industry Startups. I though a combination of East and West along with a "golden child" status from mainland should means that products like TikTok should be born there.
