Hong-Kong Protests

Ah, yes I saw this report somewhere too. While I still think China suck at propaganda these days, Trump had singlehandedly destroyed US image, and the world is more and more aware of US's shenanigan.
As for Hong Kong... Well I think about the future of Hong Kong, it is fucked. If Hong Kong is stagnant before now it is officially fucked. I sincerely hope this is the last victory for CIA, China better learn fast.
Well, Trump is one part but China is another. This is the real world, not a test tube experiment so I cannot isolate a single variable but the trend is in fact going well. You cannot use this complexity to insist that your hypothesis (China sucks as propaganda) is true and bend all other variables to suit it. Need I remind you, the most direct line of evidence at China's capability at controlling minds is the vast majority support that the CCP enjoys in China which the US can only dream of for any GOP let alone Trump's. I have provided you with all this evidence yet you still cling to Hong Kong despite it being a severe outlier.

Speaking of Hong Kong, in the near term, yes it is. But in the long term, its future will be brighter than ever before. Rioters do what they do out of desperation, like an animal in its death throes. Even their controllers are desperate because China is growing just too fast. Hong Kong will be fully in the PRC's hands in a matter of time (not more than 28 years) and then we can start to build it correctly, eventually becoming a successful city of patriots. It will be a grueling process and there could be a lot of suffering in the meantime but it reminds me of training an experienced weightlifter with bad habits. He has been lifting for many years without a coach (or in this case, a poisonous one) so he has made substantial progress but hit a brick wall in improvement due to severe deficits in his form (such as inward knees, rounded back, early hip shooting, etc...). At first, we need to deconstruct all of his experiences, which will be painful; he will fight it, argue that the new way feels strange, complain that using proper form over his style, he lifts substantially less. But we will keep the weights low and place all emphasis on his new correct form. In time, he will start to add more and more weight while lifting correctly and eventually break through his former plateau into new heights. This is Hong Kong's long term bright future as a proud city of China, but now, it is just beginning its painful period of deconstruction.

If there is any silver lining in this shitty mess at all, is that things might have finally hit rock bottom, now it can only go up haha... I wish.... However the social divide it causes is not going away in near future, and make no mistake the perpetrators will draw this out for as long as possible, and HK government might just be dumb enough (high possibility) to give them a hand.

Your saying about deconstruction do ring true to me. Hong Kong is held back by it's real-state situation, a handful of corporate have absolute stranglehold on the market and I am forever perplexed that no politician (or rioters) ever spoke out against them, go figure.... So yes, if Hong Kong were to bounce back at all there would have to be a fair bit of deconstructing and reconstructing, such an undertaking is for sure out of the realm of possibility for our dear Hong Kong government, we'll see if CCP has the stuff for it.

You know what is suspicious? Local media is overwhelmingly supportive to the rioters and anti-government, while this maybe a simple case of sentiment, one must also note that those media are owned by those very realstate Tycoons I'm talking about. Makes you wonder where is their place in all of this.

You might want to read my post carefully before you decide which side I am on.

My post has nothing to say about which side you are on. I don't care which side you think you are on. What I care about is to remind you to stop using mental-masturbating cheap-shot ideas that came out of the same mentality of those right-wing Japanese, even if you are coming from the opposite side. Because, in reality, a lot of time you can easily defend a point with perfect reasoning, yet still be dead wrong.

For example, did the US lost the Vietnam War? Well, for a lot of zealous US patriots, they always argue that the US never loses, the US always wins. They can say that they killed far more Viet Cong. They can come up with a thousands reasons that will defend their points that the US has won. And this is just to make themselves feel better.

The same goes with Bannon the scammer and his crowd. He doesn't even need to make logical sense. He can just pull it out of his ass. With that Ivy League education of his, he can actually argue and defend his same point whether the PAP enters Hong Kong or not:

If the PAP does no enter, he will say that the CCP is effectively deterred by international pressure from doing so because Hong Kong is too important to the PRC.

If the PAP enters, he will say that Hong Kong is too important to PRC and the damage is so devastating, that the CCP is forced to sent in the PAP even though this will tarnish the reputation of the PRC.

This is why I will throw whatever that comes out of Bannon's scamming mouth like garbage. Don't follow his foot steps.

The rioters have been setting up roadblocks. They would stop and examine vehicles and ask to see your wallets and ID. Their intention is to seek out pro-China supporters and off-duty police. Kids have been sent to nearby police station to record the license plates of off-duty police.

It has been confirmed by multiple HK forums but not confirmed by newspapers or videos yet. "Rumors also claimed that the rioters would ask for donation HKD $100 or more to allow vehicles to pass through the roadblocks."

The police are concerned about radical demonstrators. They have blocked roads in various districts from time to time, and even set up roadblocks to check the cars and "seek police". This newspaper noticed that protesters on the Internet called to set up roadblocks in groups of five, and targeted off-duty police officers and "brainwashed-blues shirt supporters". But even in the LIHKG discussion forum, there were people who said that everything should be based on the interests of the public. The police yesterday expressed severely condemning the actions of the demonstrators. They believed that the self-erected roadblocks would endanger the safety of road users and would commit related crimes. The maximum sentence was five years. The public was urged to report the illegal roadblocks.

Some netizens said that they were driving to the Aberdeen Tunnel on the way. They found that demonstrators blocked the road with debris. From the online clips, during the blockade of the demonstrators, demonstrators set up the roadblocks like the way police officers set up roadblocks and intercepted vehicles. The police said yesterday that they noticed that in recent days, demonstrators built roadblocks with debris in the multi-regional roads in Hong Kong, intercepted passing vehicles and severely condemned the actions of demonstrators. They also pointed out that the above actions endanger the safety of road users and also have opportunities to commit crime. Those who commit illegal assembly or loitering are liable on conviction to a maximum of five years and two years in prison. The police also appealed to members of the public to report suspected illegal roadblocks during driving. Please report the case immediately. The police will also send staff to handle the road patrols and crack down on illegal activities.

... is what I wanted to know but was afraid to ask

Jura, what do you take me for?! Don't you remember? You taught me how to be a jester and just joke it off. And now you are putting "I" and "afraid" in the same sentence, and without a "not"? I am so saddened that my SENSEI is a mere mortal. What happened to "why so serious"?

I don't know what kind of point are you saying about cheap shot or what not. My entire post was to point out the US is employing unconventional tactics in Hong Kong and it is working, this fact is objectively true so what cheap shot?

I won't say those are overly important in the politically scene. However to my great surprise one of the ethnic British judge actually spoke out against the rioters and call for rationality.... I guess you can't judge common decency on ethnicity alone. Yet a overwhelming number of ethnic Chinese lawyers had thrown in their lot with the rioters...

Well, those masked brats are burning shops, smashing windows and beating up people. Why aren't they arrested? Or, should I say, even if they are arrested, how long are staying in jail? Do they even stay in jail?

My post was responding to your post saying "You might want to read my post carefully before you decide which side I am on." I know which side you are on. You love Hong Kong. You want nothing but the best for Hong Kong. You want to have stability and have things turned back to normal, back to the rule of law. I am on your side.

However, you might need to hear this. This unconventional tactics of the US work ONLY on a society like Hong Kong. If you think the CCP is weak on unconventional warfare, and the US is strong on this, you are pretty much blaming the CCP for not being strong enough to counter the US unconventional warfare.

This is not right. The CCP doesn't get nearly enough freedom to set up institution in Hong Kong as the West does. The HK society has restricted PRC institutions, and uses the 1C2S as excuses. It's not even a leveled playing field for the CCP/PRC in Hong Kong.

And you'll find a lot of those judges are ethnically Chinese. My point is ethnicity does not factor into it.
