Two very good shots straight to the point pin point accuracy, really that was a text book shot

But at the same time I have no idea why these middle eastern army's have this silly habit of digging thier tanks into a trench and using them as fixed artillery pieces, both those tanks were dug in and if they werent then they tried to build a sand wall around then to avoid ATGM in which case they were probably empty and even more of a target none tried to escape

Either those were very silly tank commanders or those were two empty tanks, either way bad tactics by Syrian army, they should have faced them front on to the high ground camouflage them they know rebels have ATGM they have not tried anything to counter or adapt to this thread

Nevertheless that's two tanks less for the Syrian army killed by a cheap and inexpensive ATGM, guerilla warfare

Digging in a tank like that is a common tactic it moves most of the most vulnerable parts out of sight and places the guns in good position to take on the enemy. Remember a charging tank is offence a dug in is defensive. We like to think of tanks on the charge but in reality they dig in just like troops. A fixed position is also good for older tanks as the often can't fire well on the move. A tank is a moving pill box when fix a fighting pill box. Trouble for the tank commander is placement of his position vs. lay of the land and the type of tank he has. Top Syrian tank is T72 which makes up a quarter of there known inventory another quarter is T62 the rest are T55 and older amphibious tanks. Hj8 was built to disable modern tanks if at the right position against the right vintage of tank.... Good bye.

Good post but a tank provides operational mobility with use with heavy fire power, if you want to a fixed attack position you use towed artillery not tanks

Digging in a tank defeats the whole purpose of it being a mobile and manoeuvrable asset, using tanks like a fixed artillery peice is a waste of resources and if they want to get out in a rush they will have serious trouble, plus a moving target is much harder to hit

On very very rare occasion digging in tanks maybe give you a tiny advantage under extreme circumstances but in reality you are really handicapping yourself the result as we seen in these videos shows that

In this case you are right. the tank lost. Even if it was moving though I am betting the tank would loose. Its out classed by a top of the line ATGM.
That said Tanks vs Tanks a fighting position like that can be useful. In WW2 most of the American tank losses were from dugg in German Tanks. American Tanks were trying to move around them. The traversing turret and cannon proved the day most of the time. Sure the Germans lost the War, but had the better tank.
