Nothing is officially confirmed! CCTV usually uses data sanctioned by the PLA - as such "it can be used" but it does not men it is confirmed to be true!

Never ever ... it will probably revealed soon - At least I hope soon enough to be included in my next project ;) - but it surely never is "close to entering service"! At best by Indian standard maybe ...
Indeed, you are right. I watched the video "Sword Unsheathed, God of War Attacks" released by the Chinese Air Force. There is no mention of the data, which was given by CCTV-7 when reporting on this video.

So bomber groups have the same number of airframes as fighter groups then? I always figured they'd be smaller.
It is a good thing ,the force economic way for Air force to operate , is to have an aggressive doctrine.
You don't wait for enemy planes to get airborne then try to have a dog fight , you bomb them with long range cluster bombs on the ground.

Look at example of IDF air force , that the doctrine idea anyway, to achieve that you will need more bombers, tankers , drones , then bombers .Better still convince the Rocket Force to give you some of their missiles.

As reported by Japanese MoD,
On the morning of Wednesday, May 18, 2022, two Chinese H-6 bombers flew from the East China Sea, passed between Okinawa Island and Miyako Island, reached the Pacific Ocean, circled over the Pacific Ocean, reversed, passed between Okinawa Island and Miyako Island again, and reached the East China Sea.

This route is relatively uncommon. I don't recall ever seeing H-6s take this route for training. H-6 bombers that break through the first island chain from the Miyako waterway to attack targets in the western Pacific would certainly encounter interdiction from air defenses on Okinawa or even the Japanese mainland. The other side would also gain better and more accurate intelligence about attackers.

Each bombing wave would certainly be accompanied by escorts, but unless the USAF in Okinawa had been eliminated, it would be basically a suicide mission to have a subsonic bomber with no stealth capability like H-6 break through the first island chain from the Miyako Strait.
