Is there a need or scenario for a more modern conventional bomber, beyond H-6 fam? (Basically a modernized missile truck for very long range missiles). Can carry alot more payload, weight and volume wise compared to H-6, steal manned/unmanned (H20, GJ-X) etc.

during parade, Guancha Trios revealed PLAAF was actually thinking of large non-VLO bomber as H-6 replacement in order to carry more heavier missiles. but its unlikely to be happen due to various reasons.. most likely they will get only Stealth bomber.

This is a rather good post on H-6

I do find it interesting here that he says a possible JL-2 firing from the NorthEast can cover most of North America. That would be like 8000km+ range.

H-6K to H-6J have 8000-8500km range with 6-8 ton payload. H-6N can have even longer range with refueling.

H-6J can presumably carry YJ-17/19 type of weapons in the future.

H-6 family also have much higher missions rate. I remember patch put it in the 80s. But at least here they put it far ahead of B-52 here.

According to him, H-6 family can get ready more than 150 bombers in short notice.
H-6K/J bombers have 8000-8500 km ferry range? Wasn't sure its exact range but I've seen 6000km. If it does, then that's pretty good for its size.

For bomb trucks PLAAF can use large UAV such as 九天. No need to worry about pilot fatigues. Just drop off the bombs/missiles, go back to base, refueled and perform some basic maintenance, then get back into the air again.

It makes sense. It honestly doesn't even take that much on a big plane to place an optionally used cockpit.
But unless it's part of larger program with other necessary LO platforms(tanker, support, missile magazine) - it probably isn't worth the money.
If, however, it is indeed a branch from larger development - why not?
