Since the "What the Heck Thread" is locked i had post this link here. No wonder the Japanese population is shrinking, over work and stress with no time for meaningful relationship. I must admit that silicon doll in the photo does look cute and she is very liberal, she doesn't cross her legs while seated

You know, back when I was in high school, some 20 years ago, I saw a documentary about Japanese men who are in love with anime characters. So really, this isn't new, it's just that the technology has gotten better.

And I agree with you, I imagine that in 20 years, those dolls would be able to move and converse. From there, it's just a short leap to full fledged androids!

Only funny when it's not your country LOL... LOLOL

Actually...

A security robot in Washington DC suffered a watery demise after falling into a fountain by an office building.

The stricken robot, made by Knightscope, was spotted by passers-by whose photos of the aftermath quickly went viral on social media.

For some, the incident seemed to sum up the state of 21st Century technology.

It is not the first accident involving Knightscope's patrolling robots, which are equipped with various instruments - including face-recognition systems, high-definition video capture, infrared and ultrasonic sensors.

The man, who was drunk at the time of the incident, later said he wanted to "test" the machine, according to Knightscope.

Chinese woman offered refund after facial recognition allows colleague to unlock iPhone X

Thursday, 14 December, 2017

14 Dec 2017
A woman in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing has been offered a second refund after faulty facial recognition software on two iPhone X handsets allowed her colleague to unlock them.

The woman, identified only by her surname Yan, told the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation that despite activating and configuring each phone’s facial recognition software, her work colleague was able to get into both devices on every attempt.

Yan said the first time it happened, she called the Apple hotline, but the staff would not believe her. Shen then went with her colleague to the nearest Apple store, where her colleague used facial recognition on the phone to demonstrate the issue to staff, according to the report.

The store said the camera might be faulty and gave Yan a refund. But the new iPhone X that she bought also had the same problem, prompting the shop to offer another refund, the report said. No details were given about whether the woman decided to purchase a third iPhone X.
