I don't mean to go deep into politics; however, I hope Xi will step down after this term. Staying in power is not something a leader of modern days should do. No matter how good you are, the absolute power will corrupt you (Xi) absolutely.
It's something to be decided by the national congress.

However, after this term, Xi will probably be too old to effectively merit himself above an eventual competent newcomer.

Nothing bad on Xi himself, but age dulls everything and with Xi at Biden age, it seems rather likely that a young skilled politician, like what Xi himself once was, is going to command a higher degree of confidence.

Calamity.

I've been writing for almost 24 hours straight, tryna put together something neat about BMD, maths-ing out a bunch of salvos and crap, and I even made graphs and maps!

But, alas, God has trolled me yet again.

It's obviously too long for a single SDF post, so I copy-pasted it over to rentry.co - as is normal. After fixing up a couple of formatting problems, I saved it, went over to the SDF page, cleared out the reply box so that I could paste the rentry link, and decided to reload the page in case anyone new has posted. This was a regrettable decision (no more ctrl+z).

It seems that, after I hit save and tabbed over while it took time to process, rentry.co randomly imploded. Naturally, all the stuff I pasted there got raptured along with it. I didn't even bother setting a custom URL, since I didn't expect anything bad to happen.

Ngl at certain point, you are probably better off putting everything in a Git repo first rather than trusting some 3rd-party website of dubious quality and provenance.

True story: I wanted to re-read your long post on Taiwan blockade, and then found out once again that "cloud is just somebody else's server" the hard way because rentry.co decided to keel over and die at that moment. It was by the grace of $DEITY that Internet Archive had exactly ONE snapshot of that post on rentry.co that I was able to read it again (at least now it's not lost forever even if rentry.co decided to make its existence failure permanent in the future).

... Or better yet, just write it in Markdown or Asciidoc in the first place and start a milshit blog of your own. Who knows, maybe you can get more Patreon bucks from that :D

I run a local instance of etherpad (LAN) and NAT it so I can access it online via a domain name dns

For serious writing I prefer emeditor, it can open up text files up to 16TB in size

I pray that you have good security and have properly hardened your server lmao.

For those without a static IP and want to host your own services, I highly suggest you check out Tailscale.

Open your network to outside connections is NOT a good idea. If you have to do it, set up an OpenVPN server on your router to allow access your own internal network like the big boys do.

That is exactly what Tailscale is. Its basically slighty more fancy VPN server (heavily simplified)
TBH, I prefer WireGuard over OpenVPN, its much faster.

Also where did I suggest one open their network to outside connections without security?
