actually a large airship acting as the mothership for UAVs is not too shabby of an idea.

if i were an evil genius. i'd base my invading army around UAVs, drones, and wheeled bots. and after taking over the world, i shall go for space, muahahahahahah

lol, space balls is the best.

anyway, in this day and age, i don't think any one person can take over the world like Alexander the Great or Julius Caesar or Genghis Khan did (well, kinda). but i'm sure some people would disagree with me. maybe that could be the topic for another thread.

anyways, to stay on topic, here's a picture of a super Airbus A390 created by some kid somewhere:

Unless your airship gets its lift from exotic materials having negative mass and repel gravitational pull, it is a crappy idea. Helium simply couldn't generate that much lift.

that PS looks so obvious... just look at the lighting on the top 2 decks

the wing root engine on the right wing too (our left). The vertical tail seem to be too small for its huge body. Furthermore, if you try to count, the monster has only five engines. but do you think it would ever fly if they make it real?

T-U-P and Steelbird, like i said, some kid somewhere made it, i didn't say it's a great PS job. i mean if you look closely there's a freaken line smack in the center of the freaken picture... anyways...

Engineer, I was talking about a mothership, where UAVs can refuel, re-arm, and have maintenance done when necessary, not exactly an airborne carrier. Which means, the mothership does not necessarily have to carry all the UAVs that it controls/services at the same time.

With that said, IIRC there was a study done fairly recently by the USAF on using airships for the long-range heavy lift role. Popeye, do you remember reading anything on that?

Yes a little. the plans are for in the future. I really don't see any it happening anytime soon. It's in the concept stage at this time. Or may have been shleved because of budget constraints.

Two questions..

1. What is the purposes of the folding aircraft elevators?

2. Why does the ship have a straight deck and not an angled deck for landing? Believe me you need that for jets making arrested landings.

looks more like a Chinese Amphibious then a Straight CV pop's guess if you looked around you would have found the Chinese Vtol Fighters. the lifts could be ramps or maybe they can't generate enough thrust too clear the deck too they kinda hover there and drop the deck and.... Bingo it's in the air....or the lifts could be some form of armor? then why?

As for the A390 the sixth engine is on layaway due too the trillion dollar price tag
