If the plane was that intact and they weren’t confident that they could get a salvage vessel there in time, why didn’t they scuttle it?

When the P3 had to land in Hainan, there were articles of how desperately they were trying to damage the computers like pouring hot coffee into them or something like that.

The pilot ejected and the F35 probably sank underwater within seconds/minutes... then it went straight to the bottom of ocean floor

First the Image isn’t verified yet. Second the USN is looking at recovery options. This literally just happened it’s not like anyone just keeps recovery equipment capable of pulling aircraft out of the sea on hot standby. It takes time to locate, assemble, assess, plan and recover. It took weeks from the 11/17 loss till 12/7 announced recovery. How far down the plane is is going to be a huge factor. Is it shallow or deep.

Next in the case of the P3 incident they were literally in China on the ground. It’s a hell of a lot easier to get inside a jet on a landing strip then one in the middle of the pacific.

Looks like F-35C to me based on the area behind the cockpit.

Interesting wake, almost like the plane went into the water sideways or backwards,

Western media also reporting on the leaked image. As with us they can't be sure of the origin, but:

They seem to lean towards it being a genuine leak.
Yes, I was wondering about the same thing, That's why I asked first. Someone runned it into pic software and concluded it isn't Psed. Also someone in comments said it was shot by a person on fregate. But why the hell the pic appeared on the weibo first. The answer to that question would be very interesting.

Last year the video of J-15 landing on Liaoning was also leaked by someone in the USN, an American Chinese too probably:

Perhaps something like this happened again.
