F-35A Filmed Rehearsing Its New Flight Demonstration Routine In Preparation For Paris Air Show 2017

)

That's Paris show prep at Ft. Worth for the LO show, in case of heavy, low cloud cover. You will note there are NO vertical portions, which kinda takes the real fun out of fighter shows all over..
There is lots of pulling and turning and burning, seems to be a theme for rapid roll transitions, roll right, establish straight and level, rapidly roll back left often into the next very steep turning transition back to "show center".

It is technically and physically very challenging, and it is performed without a hitch, I would love to see it, but it would be a let-down to their proposed "open" show routine which should have lots more vertical elements to it. I won't be a "vapor blast" like the F-22 shows, but there is lots of maneuvering, both low speed and high speed, illustrating that the F-35 is very agile.

Speaking of which there were two F-35A's at Saturdays Scott AFB, 100th year anniversary. The F-35 driver was chilling in the shade of one of the two aircraft, and IT IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL airplane up close and personal. I don't think I've ever seen a more put together airplane or as SLIK a finish on any airplane.....it is as slik as the F-22 which was sitting next to it....

The word I use to describe its shaping is "organic", every line flows into the next line, while there are straight lines on the aircraft and lots of them, they are "blended" very very nicely from "every" angle...
I have no doubt that from the frontal aspect the F-35 is very stealthy, and those who claim its not good from the aft aspect don't know what they are talking about?? It is a very clean machine, second to the Raptor only from a few aspects, and possibly superior in others, just as "Hawk Carlisle" stated.

Back to Paris, it looks to be an incredible show, and I can't wait to see it? For a taste of the more energetic show, their is a recent F-35A heritage flight from Cali where the F-35A driver gets "very energetic" with the aircraft, and I'm rather certain Paris will be an excellent aircraft demo, the F-35 is an outstanding airshow aircraft, and an outstanding war-fighter,,,, it is as much a game-changer for the LO end as the Raptor was for the high end..

thank you for serving this community!

Well, no doubt I'm a little embarrassed by the praise from someone so kind and bright, but thank-you, it is I who am most grateful to you and some of our very talented "statesmen" here on the SDF. My thanks to each of you for bringing so much knowledge and talent onto this very professional, yet kind and gracious forum. Each of you are a credit to your people and your country, those of you who know me, know I consider it an honor to be numbered among you!

well, after (almost) four years on the SDF I can tell you how it works here (which you of course know): the more elaborate post is, the less attention it gets ... heck in the past I spent two hours on some posts for example checking Russian acronyms, and the result were inept comments (LOL now) ... but a :cool:picture from Twitter = half dozen of Likes (I don't mean to whine about not getting Likes, I don't mean to gloat about getting Likes, I'm just saying how it is ... gosh nitpicking and stuff)

but I like it here :)

I would have loved it if that Scot had fired that A-400 up and let her howl, and of course I'm quite confident I could fly it with a little help getting it started?? LOL

That's Paris show prep ...
... cheering time for you bro:
Countdown to Paris Air Show begins as F-35 arrives in France

Two F-35As safely landed in France on Tuesday, just days ahead of the jet’s debut at Paris Air Show next week.

The U.S. aircraft took off from Hill Air Force Base in Utah earlier Tuesday and landed at Le Bourget Airport, the site of the air show, on Tuesday evening, Air Force spokesman Capt. Mark Graff told Defense News. Two pilots from Eglin Air Force Base in Florida operated the aircraft during the transatlantic flight.

Although the U.S. Air Force’s variant of the joint strike fighter has participated in other air shows, the demonstrations in Paris will be the first opportunity for international audiences to see the F-35’s aerodynamic capabilities, including acrobatic and high G-force maneuvers on par with what viewers see during performances of the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds, Graff said.

The F-35 Heritage Flight Team conducted the demo at the Royal International Air Tattoo in England last year, but was only permitted to perform a flyover alongside an F-22 Raptor.

At Le Bourget, one F-35 will fly demonstrations at a time, with the second aircraft kept as a spare and for static displays, he said. A Lockheed Martin test pilot will operate the aircraft.

The F-35 is the first stealth aircraft owned by the U.S. military to visit the Paris Air Show in more than 20 years. Questions about the security of stealth planes arose in 1991, when alleged French industrial espionage of the F-117 took place during the event. The B-2 conducted a flyover in 1995, but did not land at Le Bourget. An F-22 appearance was canceled in 2009.

Weather permitting, the F-35 will fly June 19-21 during the trade show, as well as June 23-25 when the air show is open to the public, said Mike Rein, a Lockheed spokesman. A static display is currently planned for June 19-21, although Rein noted that the jet’s availability will be up to the Air Force’s discretion.

Lockheed will foot the bill for the F-35’s flight time during the air show, Rein said, adding that in the past the company and the Air Force made similar arrangements for F-22 and F-16 flights.

The Lockheed spokesman could not elaborate on whether the company would also be paying the cost of the transatlantic flight, logistics support or other expenses associated with the trip.
