NOT latest news but it just came cross me that, with transfer of Jiang Wei II (053H3) class vessels, Bangledesh becomes the 2nd country that use both HHQ-7 and HHQ-10 (FL3000, export version) missiles simultaneously. Not even Pakistan, so far.

Yup that seems to be true, unless Pakistan buys themselves some Type 056.

And PN is not interested in 056 as they already placed 4+2+2 orders of Milgem corvettes & Damen OPVs respectively. If you look their armament they are going to better then F22Ps/056s.

I’m curious how they will integrate HQ16 on Milgem corvette. The Turkish version use western radar and I don’t think they have missile directors like the 054A.

You cannot assume that the Pakistan model will have the same systems as the Turkish model. Models sold to different countries will vary greatly in equipment, the only thing they have in common is the hull as a platform. For example, the ASMs or SSMs, for Pakistan they will have to use the Badur missiles Pakistan developed, not the missiles the Turkish developed. The corvettes may likely use the Chinese SR2410C AESA also destined for the 054A/P. You only need to stock parts for the radar and train for this, and it will be good for two ship classes. The use of the Chinese radar will make it embargo proof from the West. Turkey might try to sell Turkish designed and made radars, however, and these might also be embargo proof, but logistically it makes more sense to use the Chinese radar as it is already suited for corvettes; Bangladesh uses SR2410C on their 056--- and its already going to be used with the 054A/P.

If you are going to use HQ-16, you need at least two of the missile directors. The export frigate designs seen in IDEX shows show only two directors being used.

Look closely on these two, they only have two missile illumination directors.

Yup & based on same formula PN acquiring Damen OPVs and once inducted it will be modified same as Milgem....

For example, the ASMs or SSMs, for Pakistan they will have to use the Badur missiles Pakistan developed, not the missiles the Turkish developed.

No PN going to use Harba Missile which is a further extended range (700km) version in comparison to Babur (450km)...PN already inducted Harba on F22Ps & Azmat class FACs and its going to be on 054 A/Ps & Milgem & Damen ....

The corvettes may likely use the Chinese SR2410C AESA also destined for the 054A/P. You only need to stock parts for the radar and train for this, and it will be good for two ship classes. The use of the Chinese radar will make it embargo proof from the West.

YUP, all 8 (4+2+2) Milgem & Damen are going to be use the same radars...

Though these 8 (4+2+2) are Corvettes or OPVs but they are going to be heavily armed better then FFGs around .....

Old soldier 555 Zhaotong (Type 053H1) still active: sailing with 589 Qingyun (Type 056) and 506 Jingmen (Type 056A):

100mm main gun firing. Since this set of pictures was taken by the same photographer, this ship is either of 553 Shaoguan and 543 Dandong, the other two Type 053H1 ships that remain active.

That's truly old ship. Still has Type 343 Wasp Head and 354 Eye Shield (I think) radars.

Yet, there is some very modern modifications, including flat panel SATCOM, which is a phase array inside, which possibly includes Beidou support, and another smaller SATCOM likely for marine internet.

No doubt the ship is used for training.

Both 056 here are of the A version. This is because the roof line between the bridge windows and the roof is thick, whereas the non A version is thin.

Is that why it still has what looks like a double bofors?

Type 343 Wasp Head is 2D radar only for main guns and antiship missile. Its not a 3D fire control radar like Type 347 you see on the Type 056A which you can see on the first picture. Type 347 is actually the same radar you see right on top of the Type 730 and 1130 CIWS.

Because being 2D only, Wasp Head is long obsolete.

Type 754 Eye Shield is old old search radar. Its long replaced by the Type 360 which is also another parabolic rotating radar. But the Type 360 is seen in newer 053H2 and H3, as well as Type 071. 056 is using Type 363 I think. These radars are only 2D, no AA, search only.

So yeah, the twin Bofors requires Type 001 Eye Ball.
