Re: Pakistan to get frigate from China in 2009

a DECADE!?!?!?!? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I thought any sea trials would be done in Pakistani sees, thats why I expected it to be handed over to PN after just a month or two of testing the systems.

Again meaning when the system usually is achiving its full potential. Ofcourse the system will be introduced to its users far earlier, like in this case propaply in 2009. But that doesen't mean that the system is fully capapble of doing all that the manufactors advertize it being able to do instantly.

I thought I'd just open up a general thread for non-054/A related frigates. I found some pictures on 524, it would be interesting to compare what this ship has and what F-22P has.

Anyway, here is a picture of 524 + some of its sensors and weapons.

I'm not sure what's this installed on 524, doesn't look like anything else on Jiangwei. Any ideas?

Type 517H1

Type 341 Rice Lamp + Type 76A, I think F-22P will get the newer Type 347 though

Is this Type 352?

Recently, someone made some nice photo comparisons of the radar + guns used on F-22P vs LD-2000.

compares the search radar used on F-22P between the placement on the model and on the ship. Looks like the export SR-64.

Pictures of F-22P here, I guess the major addition from the previous set of the photos is FM-90N and its FCR. I didn't look any further at it, but this stood out quite a bit.

more photos of F-22P. Plus, we finally get a good luck at the 30 mm gun on there, looks like the one on LD-2000 for sure. There is a launcher looking thing beside it, but I'm not sure what it's for.

haha, it almost looks like a single TY-90 missile :p

The turret is supposed to have a ROF of 5000rpm with 2 magazines of 500 rounds each.

But this means just enough rounds for 10 seconds of sustained fire? That seems inadequate. When you look at videos of CIWS, it takes about 4 seconds of sustained fire to bring down 1 incoming missile. So this CIWS will be expended after engaging 2 missiles?

Or can it be operated at a lower ROF?

I'm sure in real practice that ROF will rarely be reached. You might have some serious overheating issues if it consistently goes at that rate.

so, this appeared on CDF, but originally appeared on Chinese bbs. It shows what appears to be TAS on a Jiangwei ship and then compares that to the "butt" of 171 and tries to say 171 also has it.

So the question is, is that a TAS for sure? And if it is, do we feel 171 and 054A (which has a similar hole) have TAS?
