It should be the same video above that you linked to from global times.

Besides, it should be easy for you to be a bit more proactive, just put in the guy's name "Wang Liqiang" and "court video" and see what comes up.
well I was curious what a member had seen

anyway China Spy Farce: agencies 'highly dubious' on Wang Liqiang's espionage claims

contains a short TV report described as:
Macquarie Media federal politics editor Michael Pachi says the story of self-proclaimed spy Wang Liqiang still has “a bit more to go” after Sky News host Sharri Markson revealed in the Daily Telegraph that Wang may have only been engaged in low-level work for the Chinese. “It is an interesting take on the story,” he told the Front Page program. Mr Pachi’s comments come after the Daily Telegraph revealed that, according to senior members of the Australian Intelligence community, it is “highly dubious” that Wang Liqiang, who claimed he was a high-level Chinese spy during a 60 Minutes interview, was a major player in the espionage space. perhaps the most fishy is the Southern Korean passport part
Or both?? Is this Western article trying to save face by saying that despite Wang being proven a fraud, he could also have been an defecting agent? LOLOL That's just funny. What are the chances that Beijing or any competent government trains a criminal committed in court of fraud to be a special agent?

well I've been wondering IF
  1. possibly Western special services would've hired a crook to come up with an anti-Chinese narrative, OR
  2. possibly China would've created a courtroom footage Nov 30, 2019 against a defector
note I used several qualifiers above as I wouldn't know which of 1. or 2. were true

EDIT
as for 1., it's impossible an individual were able to trick them
as for 2., mugshots would be useful

Is he denying that it's him? I've not heard of any such thing from him and I'd expect that to be the first reaction if they used a fake video of him. I also imagine it'd be very easy for an expert to tell if a video like that was manipulated. I think you are ignoring the most likely scenario which is that this is a fraud criminal with no good options left for him or his wife in China, and when his swindler's intuition saw an opportunity to start a new life with government funds and rewards in Australia, he took it. Worst comes to worse, even if he's found out by the Australian government, the West will still appreciate the bad press he generated against China and will simply deny him compensation while allowing him to live in Australia. He wouldn't get deported because he can still convince them that he'll get hung upside down and beaten to death before having his organs harvested should he be returned to China.

the case is very funny (to me), as one of the stories, ehm, requires the willing suspension of disbelief, but both stories are publicly presented

I'll make it a new post to be clear; I thought of what you described as
I think you are ignoring the most likely scenario which is that this is a fraud criminal with no good options left ...
etc., and still it'd be what I called

"possibly Western special services would've hired a crook to come up with an anti-Chinese narrative" 42 minutes ago

as I can't imagine he would be able to trick them right from the start

(actually I'm wondering if they would've let the crook to impersonate an agent, LOL)

Denying the claims is a very very broad term. If he still finds 1 thing he can deny, that satisfies the sentence. He's denying the claim that he was never involved in any operations. In essence, the only way he would not be denying the claims against him is if he were to come clean that everything he said was fraudulent. A very specific denial that would unquestionably stand out is if he said that that is a doctored video, and it could easily be evaluated by video experts. From what I know, he has not dared to say that.

Well, first of all, he's not a very bright crook seeing as how he was caught in China, so he could have thought he could get away with it. But as for this, there are multiple way things could have led to their current situation. First, he could have started by going to media first or concurrently to the Australian government and media together. Secondly, the Australian government could have not believed him and sent him to the media anyway because they figure he can at least do some PR damage to China despite having no valuable information.

As to whether he came up with the idea or some government came up with the idea and told him to go through with his part, is a detail. The main point is whether or not he was actually a Chinese agent with valuable information for foreign governments, and seeing as how there is footage of him being convicted of fraud in China, the answer doesn't look good for those who were hoping that he is who he said he is.
