They always talk tough, up until they don't ;)
What I don't get, is the policy of non-stop muscle flexing and ... I was about to say sabre rattling too, but we do not even get to see that from the Americans.

Four years of Trump muscle flexing and ... and ... and ...

Guess to be followed by Biden muscle flexing if he can find his mind, which he lost along the way to victory.

Maybe.

Maybe they sanction Huawei again or raise tariffs, who knows.

US politicians speak with forked tongue. What US Presidents say publicly is different from what they say privately. That's how a democracy works. With Trump he's probably saying what he thinks publicly. In the past I always read about how there seems to be an agreement between China and the US that the US is going to be loud about China publicly and China should not take it seriously hence why there are contradictions between what the US says publicly and what policy actually is. Politicians in Congress know they can write legislation knowing full well it's not going to pass but they have to give a show to their constituencies at home and say they did this or they that. Yeah candidate Bill Clinton was going to hold China on human rights and he did nothing serious when President. Before Trump remember how all Americans were for slapping tariffs on China thinking China was going to pay. Now with Trump they speak the truth and it's American that pay. I suspect it will slowly go back to believing China pays the tariff for rhetoric to Americans and Congress will do nothing like usual. They're worried about how much Trump has damaged the US's democratic reputation. Well it doesn't help when they're okay with their two-faced image publicly versus privately.

What will Beijing do? Are they going to go along with this ruse like before? These lies are why when someone like Trump comes along who believes all the lies about trade from the US government and when he's President he acts on it. Beijing wants respect but they go along to be in a position to be disrespected.
