So beautiful and slick, the island is very small, significantly smaller than 002

Can't wait to see the specs and sailing in the ocean

Any confirmation yet whether it will be IEP ? I believe it is, will be awesome and excellent achievement for China.

The only carrier with IEP is Queen Elizabeth but is not a catobar and a bit smaller than 003
Quite unlikely to be IEP. Propulsion most probably is still very much steam turbine. But power generation could include new tech like CV-17 Shandong did.

Steam turbine or gas turbine or even nuclear are not relevant whether it is IEP or not

I think it will be IEP ... just wondering whether there is a confirmation or strong indication from anybody ?
What I mean by steam turbine is she will still be propelled by conventional mechanical gearbox connected to steam turbines powered by boilers. Take CVN-78 for example, she produces much more electricity but is still propelled by steam turbines connected to a mechanical gearbox.

There's no indication CV-18 uses electric motors for propulsion afiak apart from like tieba hardcore CVN-18 copium dudes or sth.

No indication of IEP (electrical propulsion), but rather indication of steam turbine direct drive according to this alledged land based test rig for Fujian's power system

[addition]
I think one key component for a large IEPS ship such as CV and 055 is the 40MW electrical motor. The 40MW motor program recieved full state funding in 2018. CV Fujian began construction in 2016, so it wasn't planned to be IEPS.

So the current 055 batch in construction might have it? Maybe?
