Why are there still no planes on board? It would be great to see J-35s, J-15Ts, Z-20s, and KJ-600s on deck.

They are either in the hangar or at shore stations since Yellow Sea is close to many air bases. Also depends on the nature of the training, aircraft from shore stations may rotate over to the carrier, or the aircraft may jest return to the shore-based training base after the exercise for the day is over.

You will see different scenario on the flight deck during exercise when the carrier is thousands of KM away from PLA Navy Aviation training base.

A fleet of 5 naval vessels, including the Fujian, is heading east in the northern Yellow Sea. Their destination is likely an exercise zone recently announced by the Liaoning MSA, where exercises will be held from April 7 to 11.

Following a 10-day training exercise with carrier-based aircraft in the Bohai Sea, the carrier is set to begin a 5-day exercise with the escort fleet.

Also for record keeping, Fujian left port on Marth 26th.

maybe it is some sort of validation exercise? this time possibly involving take off and landing at night. I am not sure if Fujian has tried that yet.

To get FOC within 14 months from commissioning is too ambitious. I wonder who is the person making this statement. Though if they train extremely hard every day as if the war starts tonight, and use experienced crew transferred from CV16 or CV17, there is still a chance to make it.

Still, I think FOC in 2026 in unlikely to happen.

“完全形成战斗力”(fully forming combat capability/reach full IOC) might be different from “形成完全战斗力”(forming full combat capability/reach FOC).I think IOC in 2026 and FOC in 2027/2028 is a safer assumption.

Although your English translation is accurate, the interpretation is wrong. Transition in 2026 only means that 2026 is part of the transition period, it does not mean that transition will finish in 2026, it can continue well into 2027. It is a process not a point.
