  • It features the advanced Type 346 S-band AESA radar system.
  • Its airwing is expected to be slightly larger than that of the Liaoning, featuring around 8 additional aircraft.
  • The Shandong may have an internal arrangement that is better optimized than that of the Liaoning.
  • The Shandong is limited to six days at sea before refueling, which is similar to the Liaoning.
  • The Shandong reportedly underwent back-to-back sea trials in early August 2019, suggesting the vessel experienced technical problems during trials.

Oh please ... just do a simple fact-check and do NOT repeat the most often wrong Wiki!

Yes, the island is smaller and eventually its displacement is a bit larger ... but the Shandong is surely not 315m long; they are the same in this regard.

Its ski rump is not as steep, so it is a bit longer.

Care to prove? And please not again via such BS-sites like "The National Interest" (which just posted, the J-20A will now use again a new Russian engine) ... from all I know, they are exactly the same.

The slope of the ski-jump ramp on the 001A is 12 degrees, compared with 14 degrees on the Liaoning. Beijing-based naval expert Li Jie said the 12-degree ramp would help fighters shorten their take-off distance, save fuel and increase their weapons payload while strengthening the ship’s structure.

Come on... any article that calls China’s second carrier Type 001A should be automatically dismissed really, especially an article from 2017!

just from the photos of them it's clear its ski ramp isn't as steep as on the CV-16. The Chinese would be stupid not to make it better & longer.
