Deino..so sorry about going off topic...I do know better.

Any way back to CV-17. I read somewhere, I think on sina military channel, that CV-17 was going out to sea on the 28th of April. I have no Idea if this was just conjecture or a rumor floated by those persons that just like to stir things up. Well now it's the 8th of May well past the May day holiday. I certainly do hope the ship starts her sea trials very soon. WE all want to see what sort of updates in equipment this ship will have over CV-16.

Guys ... again, could we please leave out any comparisons to the Russian Kuznetsov, since this could be done in the Liaoning thread, the Kuznetsov is in regard to a comparison of the Liaoning vs the Type 002 at Dalian very much irrelevant ...

you mean project 002? or type 002?

...what is most likely wrong.
may be or may be not - nothing seems to be official.
And we shouldn't confuse our friends by using different words for the same ship.

Carrier CV-16 = the first carrier = Carrier Nr. 001 = Type 001 = skijump = Liaoning for sure

next ? means to be suspected
finished in Dalian
Carrier CV-17 ? = the secnd. carrier = Carrier Nr. 002 = Type 001 A ? = skijump = Shandong ? (China could build some more of this Type)
to be build in Shanghai
Carrier CV ? = the third carrier = Carrier Nr. 003 = Type 002 ? = Katapult ?

I'd say "anything"-001A is 100% wrong... However, "anything"-002 has at least 33.33% of chance being correct (Type-002, Carrier-002 or Project-002). So, why few (at least only few, not most) forum members still think "anything"-001A is better than "anything"-002 is something can't understand at all.

Dalian's official launch of the carrier last year did confirm the number 002 at the back ground. The only problem is nobody can agree on "what"-002 in English. That's why people like me thinks at least the number 002 in one way or another will be part of the official English designation as it's already part of the official Chinese designation. However, the number 001A would never be in any form be a part of the official designation. Of cause, you and the others are free to use fans' logic to justify how the number 001A should be used in the designation of this carrier. But, I'm sorry to say fan's option doesn't count in this case, does it?

Again, I respect, understand and to some degree agree with your and the few fans left still believe 001A is the better number to use in designation of this carrier. On the other hand, please let it go and move on...
