there are more than 1.4 billion peoples in china. but there are only 1 million soldiers.

What you say make some sense. But you have to discount the following,
1) People who doesn't want to join the military.
2) People that are too young or too old to be in the military.
3) People that are Chinese resident but are not in China.
4) rebels and insurgents
What you mention is taking into assumption that all 1.4billion peoples had reach military age and wanted to go into the military.

Yeah, but every country has those people that have to be excluded. With a large population, China has a lot higher absolute # of people for the picking and can afford to be A LOT more picky.
Since we can assume that all nations have similar percentage of the 4 categories of people you mentioned, using the overall population makes perfect sense in a comparison.
You know better about China only stay in books, newspapers and TV programs.
I'm sorry, I do not know what you meant to say. Are you implying that whatever I know of China, it actually came from books, magazines, newspaper, etc?
What I am saying is generalising of the groups of people in any nations that would not/ cannot join the military... I think it is kind of different from what you have accuse me of.

Yes, in China, there are a lot of people don't wish to join the army. This figure is very large, even more than the population of the United States.
I reply to you that means, you haven't been to west China and north China, if you can realize recruited soldiers scene at there, you will understand, those two kinds of people which you said actually not much.

Getting chinese citizenship for a non-chinese is a mission impossible except you can drmatically help China in some area, so I dont think you have chance join the PLA.

China is not in a war now, but some of PLA soldiers are still in a hard condition, just image 30 PLA soldiers served in a over 5000 meters mountain, can you image how can they live there many many years?
