Singapore, with more than 83% vaccinated (mostly mRNA ) and practicing coexistent (treating Covid as severe cold) , is having over 90,000 cases in last 2 months.
It wants to open up to resuscitate its economy, particularly the aviation related industry, but the high number of cases are making Singaporean anxious and fear of getting infected have raised. To make matter worse, the US is urging people not to travel to Singapore. Looks like Singapore's economy will still be in doldrums despite the 'opening up'.

I think the only way out of this is natural exposure and herd immunity. When OC43 struck in 1889 and H1N1 struck in 1918, the population was exposed quickly, developed herd immunity, and pandemic was over within 2 years. Without natural immunity which constantly boosts the immune system, and I'm talking about exposure to the virus on a daily basis, it would take a long time for a pandemic to transition to endemic.

Vaccine won't get you out of this pandemic, not with a virus like a common cold or flu. The only way out is daily exposure to the virus. Only sustained herd immunity can keep people from hospitalization and death.

Singapore is a showcase of western vaccine failure if we go by transmission count. You couldnt have ask for a more perfect condition.

83% vaccination rate. Strict social distancing rules and mask requirements.

Interestingly, it countries that used sinovac and Sinopharm on a large scale are seeing their case numbers dropping.

90 suspected adverse events reported after Sinovac COVID-19 vaccinations in Singapore: HSA

A good example of how singapore media with tacit approval from Singapore gov tried to smear sinovac by naming sinovac in the negative headline when pifzer and moderna had 11,737 adverse event vs 90 for Sinovac

Number were break down to the smallest denominations (0.13%) for pifzer /moderna when sinovac performed better at 0.05% (unreported).

I think chinese gov should stop selling any vaccine to Singapore or at least place them at the back of the queue.

Yikes. Half the people dead of covid in Singapore at the latest report were FULLY vaccinated. If vaccines won't fix this, then China is doomed to remain isolated and with sporadic lockdowns forever.

Injected vax will prevent hospitalization and death, but not infection. You see, covid is big business in the west. Without covid, how else do you think pharm can rake in tens of billions every year?

There is a solution. Don't bother with it. The other 4 coronavirus species became mild after people caught them and developed immunity. Let the children catch it early on. Children have strong immune system and won't get sick when they catch it. Later when they become adults and catch it again it'll be mild because they develop immunity to it as children.

It's called seasonal. Coronavirus is extremely seasonal. Very high cases in winter. Very low cases in summer. Brazil, Chile, Argentina are getting better only because of season. They are in the southern hemisphere.

Two wrongs don't make a right. China should continue to sell to Singapore and not repeat the mistake with Canada. As Sun Tzu said. Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer. And who knows, maybe one day humans will appreciate help from each other despite humans are the only animals that slaughter each other.
