By nomenclature I believe virions are on the boundary of life and death, but what is clear is that they are not self-directed; they only activate when they come into contact with certain biological materials, namely cells. In that case their spike protein activates and they invade the cell. Otherwise they remain inert, and in fact will "die" if left outside a biological organism for too long. Hence when it comes to the spread of viruses, it depends on an animal to carry it.

I beg to differ. Virus are some of the earliest life forms. How can you say these fuzzballs are not alive? That is not for you to judge. After all, you are nothing but 3 billion letters of DNA code which governs your every protein, every instinct, every action every second of your life.

Viruses do not do all of these. Its reproduction depends on a host. A true living being can reproduce by itself, or with a partner.

Other characteristics of life is to breathe and oxidize, consume food and burn it for energy, react to the environment with senses --- light, nasal, sound, touch. It can produce activity, releasing energy from other sources. It will grow.

This is why Bacteria is alive but viruses are not. But there are Mega Viruses that eat bacteria. That's how big they are. Ironically, mega viruses have been discovered to have another family of viruses infect them. A mega virus is between the border of life that it may require the classification of a new life form.

Whether viruses are living or not is an interesting topic and I don't think the answer is straightforward. Another interesting group is prions.

I'm sorry to say that; but Cambodia is opening up to foreign tourist soon. I don't know the exact date but schools will open fully starting from Nov 1st. Is that to be happy or to be worried? I don't know, let's see!
It is difficult to say. If Cambodia can get vaccination rate up to at least 90% with booster shots, then it probably can keep the covid at bay for sometime. UAE is the only country at the moment that is able to contain covid with vaccines. And its vaccination rate is the highest in the world.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, total vaccination rate is 85% compared to total population of 16 millions. Among those only 1.6 millions people (around 10%) have taken the 3rd jab (mostly with AZ, I took AZ as the 3rd jab too). Now we are inoculate the 3rd jab to the majority with Sinovac. This inoculation rate is rather high and would protect people from getting seriously sick; however, it doesn't prevent people from getting infected as I see many fully vaccinated people get infected. Some just buy medicines and cure themselves at home. They don't even bother the government for that.

Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine to be included in Singapore's national vaccination programme

SINGAPORE: The Sinovac-CoronaVac COVID-19 vaccine will be included in Singapore's national vaccination programme as a three-dose regime, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on Saturday (Oct 23).

The clinic I went for my Sinovac vaccination was having a roaring business, charging $116 for 2 jabs, or $69 for a single.
Wonder if business will cool drastically for them now.
