I'm not too knowledgeable about this but I have a feeling anti-China sentiment will be so strong after this crisis that lawmakers will have no choice but to ban any private companies from interacting with China. They won't care about the economic hit it will cause themselves as long as China suffers more. Do you think this is a possibility?
Certainly politicians must respond to their base. However, they must also respond to American interests. GM and Boeing could be very persuasive. At the end of the day, a response to a country is based on how much power you have over the other country, If anger of the population drives everything, many South American countries and Middle East countries such as Iraq would have a much more anti-U.S. policies than they do now. What is more, the U.S. government has a lot of control over the messages from the mainstream media. No country will enter into a trade-war where the damage to one self is much greater than damage to the other side, whatever anger the population has.

following an order from Vladimir Putin, Russia's defence ministry said in a statement.

Mr Putin spoke to Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte on Saturday, the Kremlin said, adding that the Russian leader had offered his support and help in the form of mobile disinfection vehicles and specialists to aid the worst hit Italian regions.

It is a good gesture from Jack Ma to help the world.

China’s mass deployment of medical aid to fight the coronavirus reached Africa as Ethiopia received its first shipment of supplies, including protective gear and test kits, for distribution across the continent from billionaire Jack Ma.

The Horn of Africa nation received 5.4 million face masks, more than 1 million testing kits, 40,000 items of protective clothing and 60,000 sets of face shields, China’s Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Jack Ma’s foundation said in a statement Sunday. More medical supplies are expected over the next few weeks.

“Getting these donations to all 54 African countries, with diverse geographic conditions and different levels of infrastructure, is a great logistical and transportation challenge,” the foundation said. “We are working around the clock to make the delivery as fast as possible.”

Ethiopia’s Health Ministry will coordinate the distribution together with the national carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, and with support from the World Food Programme and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said separately. Abiy announced a week ago he’d struck a deal with Ma.

Although the spread of the virus has been relatively slow in Africa, the number of people who tested positive have climbed to about 1,000 in more than 40 countries.

Still, the consequences of pandemic will be “catastrophic due to the continent’s weak health care systems, including inadequate surveillance and laboratory capacity, scarcity of public health human resources, and limited financial means,” said Abiy.

It is indeed frightening, one of our very dearest friends has built an orphanage for street children, a couple of hours South of Nairobi, Kenya, she struggles to maintain food, water, and shelter for 120 children from ages 4-19, or so, a very beautiful sweet soul, she was a street kid herself and suffers the long term effects of malnourishment, abuse and abandonment, I hope you will keep Vicky in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the whole of Africa.

She gets malaria every year, and of course suffers the long term health damage from that, as well as many of her helpers and children, it will be very grim if indeed the orphanage is touched by this scourge. To be honest they have it much better than most, this my friend is a nightmare, much like what China and Italy faced, only worse.

Greetings everyone.

China has sent millions of medical grade masks and thousands of ventilators and other vital medical equipment to Iran so far. Thank you, friends.

China has also sent a huge amount of such aid to Italy, whilst the EU has abandoned them.

I have a question for my Chinese friends here - how do you feel about the terminology of the virus? My Chinese friends call it the 'Wuhan virus', but as you know there is a bit of an issue with the US calling it the 'China/Chinese virus', so I wanted to get some direct Chinese thoughts on this.

I think that the virus does not have a nationality and associating it with China can be harmful of the many Asians in the US. But we have seen in history how stupid these labels can be - like the "Spanish" flu :)

I hope everyone is keeping well and staying safe.

All the best.

The coronavirus is considered a natural disaster hence the US wasn't sued for the 2009 swine flu. If they start suing because of the coronavirus then the US can be sued and it opens up a door where people can sue because of all sorts of natural disasters. When volcanos pour out lava in Hawaii and the flow heads towards populated areas, the government of Hawaii can divert the flow but they don't. Why? Because if the diversion leads the flow to destroy some other property, the government can be sued. If nature is doing its thing, the government can't be sued. Not to say they won't try suing because of the coronavirus but to do so will open a Pandora's box where everyone is going to start suing for any natural disaster. If there's a hurricane that destroys someone's house, you don't think someone will sue countries blaming it on climate change? What about island nations where they'll be first to suffer from rising sea levels. Which countries are they going to blame and sue?
Theoretically you can sue the Chinese government for neglect in the early stages of the outbreak in Wuhan. But then again that will open the door for almost every government in the world to be sued.

It would be willful negligence for many other governments. They've seen first hand how horrible things got in Wuhan and did little to nothing to stop the spread in their own countries.
