China also has a DNA COVID-19 vaccine in development. Similar to the mRNA vaccines, DNA vaccines are also genetically based.

I'm not sure if the above-mentioned Chinese DNA vaccine is the same as the one described below (INO-4800)... It's the same Chinese company in Sichuan... But this DNA vaccine is a collaboration between a Pennsylvanian company and the Chinese company.

No, the recent news is just a manufacturing agreement. TBH the inovio vaccine has also fallen behind in the race. Fosun (a large chinese pharma company also has a similar agreement with BioNTech for that vaccine.

This piece came out a month ago. It may suggest that it's going smoothly... As of last December, 5 individual subjects had entered a phase 3 trial. It seems that they are confident enough to start a factory for mass production.

Walvax’s mRNA vaccine only started phase ii trial last month:

The vaccine factory story probably had as much to do with propping up Walvax‘s share price as it had to do with any realistic schedule for mass production.

China does not have any policy to shut out any vaccines. Even allowing this BioNTech mRNA vaccine despite some questions about its safety. Shows that China is not interested in politicizing vaccines. Contrast this to the West practically shut out all Chinese vaccine by not approving them for use in their respective countries. India, well we know what it's doing. China has been consistent in its message about vaccines. It does not matter whose vaccine it is. Just that everyone contribute their part to end the Covid-19 pandemic.

The West and India have already screwed up the first time when they totally f**ked up their handling of Covid-19. They allowed the Covid-19 pandemic to explode into monstrous proportions. Now they are yet making another mistake by politicizing the vaccine rollouts to the rest of the world. Sabotaging and blocking the vaccines from rivals like Russia and China. The richest of the Western countries hoarding vaccines for each of their own nation. India trying to push Chinese vaccine out of South Asia. They have exploded the Covid-19 pandemic before, and now they are gonna prolong it.

The smaller countries cannot afford to a prolonging of the Covid-19 pandemic. Like here in Malaysia. We don't have the economy to withstand the 1st wave, let alone the 2nd, 3rd, and so forth. Politicizing the vaccines only harms us further. If we choose the Western vaccines, we would have to wait in line, prolonging the pandemic. If we choose the Chinese vaccines, there would be backlash and doubts because of the excellent anti-China smear job by Western and anti-China media. Same with the Russian vaccines. Indian vaccines? I'm not going there. The end result? We keep waiting for Covid-19 to end.

Looks like India is very close to herd immunity (from infections not vaccination). Latest tests in New Delhi show that seroprevalence of COVID antibodies is over 50%.

Probably thanks to the mass migrations after the ‘the harshest lockdown in the world’... anyway, if that was the case then shouldn’t inflection rates in India be in hundreds of millions?

The sinovac and sinopharm vaccines are being reviewed for emergency use status by the WHO and that a decision about it will only be taken in march at the earliest. What does that mean? that the vaccines right now are not considered safe by the WHO? what happens if the WHO doesnt approve them?

Yes, I know. Many fellow members have been criticizing the genetic based technologies most likely because the perception has been that China has been exclusively focusing on the traditional methods. I have disagreed with this view from the beginning. The purpose of my past several posts has been to show that China is also pursuing genetic based vaccine technologies, just like everyone else. The progress of these Chinese genetic based vaccines is not my concern. In fact, the lack of (or slower) progress of these genetic based vaccines in China has partially contributed to the fact that their most advanced vaccines have been based on traditional techs.
