Most people don't have enough brain power to think critically. They could discover that COVID-19 was infecting people a hundred years ago and they'll still believe it originated in China because that's what's put out there and people want to believe it. There's a lot of contradictory information out there that they don't address because authorities are a part of the problem. People believe it started from Chinese eating bats. People in the US ask experts questions like can you get COVID-19 from eating prepared food by someone infected? Most of them will say you cannot get infected from eating the virus. The acids in your stomach will kill the virus. But people still believe eating bats is what caused it... Or some are concerned about getting COVID-19 from pets. The "experts" will say you can't get it from your pets. They believe these animals got COVID-19 from people yet they think it can't be transferred back? Then over in China they say it started from eating a bat but also they always showing that video of a Chinese guy taking a nap on top of cages of various animals of what looks like a wet market suggesting viruses can pass through passive contact with animals. They expected China to discover COVID-19 and report to the world immediately on day one yet if it's been around a lot longer and in other countries that's been used to accused how long China has been covering it up, why didn't they discover it on day one when someone was infected in their country and report it to the world immediately? People say they're angry and confused over what they're saying over COVID-19. That's because we live in an era where people have no scruples even professionals. Is it possible that there are professionals out there that give advice that serve only personal interests? Is it possible an animals rights "expert" will tell everyone that you can't get COVID-19 from animals just because they don't want people abandoning their pets from fear? Can you get COVID-19 from eating food prepared by someone infected? Are they just trying to prevent a panic because the fact is all food is handled by someone in the process unless you grow or raise it yourself. That would create chaos and destroy the economy. Is the government worried about getting sued hence why the information they give is so vague? Do professionals throw out outlandish theories just so someone gives them grant money to study it? Trump got a new medical spokesperson that teaches at Stanford just so he can legitimize his ignorance and arrogance over COVID-19. And he found a guy from Stanford that was willing to do it. Then there's Hollywood that has some responsibility because when they portray a pandemic everyone is sick and dying or on the verge of sick and dying. You get the disease, you're going to die. That's what people are expecting when they say pandemic yet people don't see happening what they see from Hollywood movies so they don't take it seriously.

Spain (March 2019) is one of the cases that @B.I.B. talked about. There are other reports from France, Italy and Japan (May 2019)

Thanks for sharing the link. You always want to be careful about finding "one" odd sample out of so many samples. They did mention the viral level is low. None of these tests is black and white. Many coronaviruses are so similar that they share large portions of their genomes. Since all the available tests are based on recognizing matching genomic sequences of these viruses (using antibodies or DNA polymerization), you may get false positive results when there are different types of coronaviruses present in their samples. Especially when you detect something at a borderline level, you want to extra careful. It may very well be simply another kind of coronavirus.

Also, if the virus actually has spread in that area in Spain back in March, 2019, I would expect to see steadily increasing levels of viruses in that area. And they should be able to detect the virus in other samples collected in the same area. Labs in Houston have been conducting experiments of measuring virus levels in sewages throughout Houston since May, 2020. They have consistently found that viral levels detected in the sewage is a good sign of the level of infected in that particular area. I believe, since September, city of Houston has been using sewage samples to identify the heavily infected areas in Houston. This is, of course, a non-intrusive way to keep track of where the infections are. This means that you should consistently detect viruses in sewage samples, instead of just finding one odd sample.

I would not be surprised that the definitive origin of SARS-CoV-2 originated somewhere else. As I mentioned earlier, these viruses usually take years, sometimes decades, to jump from animals to human. It takes them a long time to gather necessary mutations so that they can transmit from human to human. So it's not surprising to me at all if they, one day, find a very similar virus somewhere else in the world. It may simply be an early attempt of this virus to jump on a human, but most likely failed to jump to another human. With that being said, literally tons of irrefutable evidence demonstrates with no doubt whatsoever that the viral strains causing the current pandemic came out of China. Nothing at this time will change that.

It's not about eating the contaminated food that gets you infected. It's the people who handle live animals, and those who prepare the food. they directly handle the contaminated animals. That's how MERS jumped onto human. The virus on camels jumped on the camel herders. Initially, only the herders got sick. then one day, one virus finally gathered enough mutations to become human-to-human capable. This virus began to jump from the herder to his family. that's how an epidemic/pandemic starts. thats why you want to minimize contact between wild animals and human. That's why you want to contain direct contacts between animals and human.

A well-regulated butchering factory with good sanitation protocols will contain any potential viral infections and contaminations within the factory. That's how you minimize the number of attempts by the viruses to jump onto human. That's how you minimize the chances of these viruses to mutate. The less they can mutate, the less likely they can acquire capabilities to transmit from human to human.

All these steps have been to give the viruses less chance to learn how to live on human. If they don't see us, they don't know us. If they don't know us, they can't live with us. If they don't live with us, we don't die from them.

If it is only Spain, it can be called odd, but adding France, Italy and Japan are not odd at all. The viral level being low is perhaps because it is a half year old sample of sewage than a more concentrated source? That is just my untrained guess.

Other than providing the cases I don't have much opinion of the source tracing.

“From China, we will not buy. I don’t believe it transmits enough safety to the population, because of its origin. That's our thinking,” he said in an interview with radio station Jovem Pan on Thursday night. “With certainty, other vaccines that are being studied could be scientifically proven.”

In June, Brazil’s government announced a deal with Oxford University and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to purchase 100 million doses of its potential coronavirus vaccine.
President Jair Bolsonaro really sounds like U.S.' bitch. However, Sao Paulo’s Butantan Institute plans to ignore Bolsonaro's bitching and import 6 million doses of Sinovac’s vaccine initially, with the aim of eventually produce it domestically in Brazil.

Just more evidence that China's rapid testing and contact tracing worked marvelously yet once again, unlike the Trump administration, which essentially abandoned any hope of containing the virus:

From above chart, you can see China is about the only major economy that will expand about 30% from its 2019 to 2024. India's expansion is lowered from more than 40% to a little more than 20%. The U.S. will grow about 5-7% from 2019 to 2024. Japan and Italy will have almost zero growth, while Germany and Britain will expand by about 2-5%.

Rare window of opportunity for China, this must not be wasted.

The problem is, as we've seen in outbreaks from meat processing plants in both the US and Canada, those factories are perhaps not so well sanitized.
