@supercat The Guangdong cases are all quarantined right? I had a family member that took ferry from HK to Guangzhou before strict quarantine.

I have confidence in Guangdong. I don't have confidence in Hong Kong though.

I ordered two packages of masks off Amazon, one arrived on time last week. The other is scheduled for next month.

Can't say that I've heard of packages going missing at an unusual rate.
Same here. Ordered some non-essintials from amazon but they are delayed till next month.

I hope so. Guangdong is among the most developed regions in China, they should know what they are doing. As for Hong Kong, they need to get down their high horse and ask for China's help if necessary. Do not be like the Trump administration. Sometimes I really have to scratch my head for their behavior.

We need to pay attention to Guangdong, because it can import cases from Hong Kong and Macau. There has been a flare-up of cases in Hong Kong recently. On Mar. 21, there were 177 existing cases in Hong Kong and Macau, one day later, there were 224, and today, there are 266. During this period, Guangdong imported 7, 6, and 14 cases each day, respectively. I probably will make a chart about the situation in Hong Kong and Macau later.

On Mar. 23, excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, there are 78 new cases and 7 deaths (table 1). 74 cases were imported from overseas. All 7 deaths were in Wuhan, Hubei. There is one new cases in Hubei. There is no new suspected or cumulative suspected cases in Hubei (table 2). There are 3 new domestic cases and no death in the rest of China (table 3).

Although I am worried about importing cases from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, it still might not represent the biggest threat. Both Hong Kong and Taiwan have 14 days quarantine policy for returnees from Mainland China so most of them would not visit China for a short term trip. Besides, I think Guangdong government has implemented a new policy to test everyone.

Don't think Hong Kong need help yet. More like Hong Kong needs to shut down all the bars(hot spot for many foreign expats, oversea students, and trippers and maybe even restaurants immediately. Even though HK has banned all short term not resident visitors and implemented quarantine for all returnees, many of them have made it back before the deadline for 14 days quarantine.

have you try to donate face masks to a hospital? The most likely case is they will reject your donation because they will only accept certain brand and model. If I have a bunch of masks that are Chinese standard, no hospitals will take them, so me wearing my stash isn’t starving healthcare workers of their masks.
Us civilians have to go out to buy groceries and daily necessities

I don't know which country where you live but plenty of people donating N95 masks in the US and being accepted. I do not know where Jack Ma's donation went but I'm sure it wasn't to be sold to civilians out in the market. I imagine Jack Ma would've had to contact somebody to know where to send those masks and test kits.

The table below would frighten anybody. The US has more than 10,000 case surge in a single day while Italy has not managed to slow the spread yet though they have had the whole country under lockdown. What a world we are living in!

I told you it was scary, at greatest risk are the elderly in nursing home, as they are in a confined space, and once corona gets started on a population, it will run its deadly course in a hurry, of course these are the most fragile humans on the planet, and corona ofter just exacerbates already fragile organs and immune systems...

The beach is one of the safest places actually with warm, salty, high humidity air, the virus finds those elements difficult, it would be the parties and hotel rooms with crowds where you would be at high risk. Maintaining a six foot separation from people and avoiding contact with contaminated surfaces will get you through most likely......

Be safe everyone, exercise universal precautions, don't worry about not being tested if you are not symptomatic, and if you go in and out, wash, wash everything, cloths off at the door and in the laundry, shower and shave, soap and hot water destroy the corona virus...

and yes, if you feel safer with a mask, (you are much less likely to transmit corona if you are wearing a mask), and of course our loved ones are the last ones we want to pass corona on to... be safe, keep your families safe, manage your risk, its just like flying, mitigate the risk, the more risk you take, the more likely you will be in the wrong place at the wrong time..

The sorrow of this coronavirus is that the whole family might be infected in one member of that family got infected. A 35-year old French man came to Cambodia and was tested positive with coronavirus then being quarantined. His wife and his 4-month old baby were later tested but only the baby found positive. The baby was quarantined and treated at National Infant hospital. The mother risked herself to take of the baby and now she's found positive too. What a sad story! Who will live and who will die?

Considering the guy is 35, that means his wife is probably same age or so. Baby have a 0% chance of death so far. So all three will live
