Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

After omicron there are others, BQ.1, maybe deceptivecon too. These need to be fully understood before actions.

Governing 1.4 billion people maybe similar to piloting fully loaded vlcc, gigantic ships that need proper planning & large turn space.
There may be BQ.1000 eventually. Covid is constantly changing; in some ways mutating much faster than influenza virus. In 3 years we have the Alpha, Beta, Delta, Omicron, and dozens of sub-variants. And it’s fueling all kinds of conspiracy theories.

But the version of Omicron that has domainted global infections in the past year is much less deadly, but it’s highly contagious nature would have lead to more lockdowns. So it required a more flexible approach, away from the zero tolerance policies that have successfully protected the public against Alpha and Delta, but not ideal for Omicron. There are college students that spent the majority of their college years in and out of lockdowns, and other Covid related disruptions.

In a few months more variants will come, new policies may be announced. The situation is fluid. But eventually, we have to learn to live with the virus; most people will obtain some innate immunity.

It is an open forum. Like it or not, I can point out people for being hypocritical.

Every person, government and entities should be held accountable for their actions. It doesn't excuse the fact that when I see bias and double standard and point them out.
Nobody is talking about blaming the govt. except you. In fact I agree with the state council’s recommendations, with the exception they should rolled them out even sooner. Feel like I have to repeat, use the same words over and over to get through to you.

-Your exact own words are: “I haven’t (blamed) but didn’t say I wouldn’t”.

-So you are judging based on things I may or may not say in the future? What kind of numskull logic you running here. Do yourself a favor, be quite and move on.

Fear is good. Fear will impose a "spontaneous mask mandate".

Yet not many people are wearing masks anymore in the U.S. They have no fear, and that's a big problem!

A second mRNA was approved for emergency use overseas:

Currently, China has nearly 10 ICU beds per 100,000 people

10 ICU beds per 100000 people is quite an improvement over a couple of years ago when it was only about 3.4 ICU beds per 100000 people.

We are now about 3 days into the end of Zero Covid so far so good but lets wait and see what happens in 3 months.

For the last few weeks, you were praising the US and criticizing China and claiming that in the US people are free and can live with the virus normally. And then you spent most of your posts saying certain vulnerable people would die anyway. That China can't protect them forever. And that people should just exercise and eat healthy and doing away with masks, lockdown, social distancing etc. Now, all of the suddenly in the last few days, you care about the vulnerable people and deaths.

I am judging you from your previous posts and the inconsistency and being hypocritical.

I'm confused, at this point is this beef between @KYli and @Petrolicious88 a disagreement over the direction of domestic COVID policy, or does one side just want the other to admit they're a hypocrite? If its the latter, this feud can end really fast.

A lot of people are going to practice Zero COVID on their own. So I don't expect people rushing to concerts or nightclubs and more people who live with their elderly parents.
I agree. Unlike some Westerners, most Chinese are well disciplined and will wear masks and avoid crowds on their own initiative. I think that's one of the reasons who those who are eagerly waiting for mass deaths in China with great schadenfreude will be deeply disappointed.

At least 46 COVID-19 vaccines are on human trials in China and 20 overseas. Of these, 3 are Omicron specific vaccines.
By October this year, at least 46 COVID-19 vaccines were being tested in human trials in China, and more than 20 in overseas clinical trials, as the country pushed forward its vaccine research and development through multiple tech routes.

Among them, three inactivated monovalent vaccines designed to neutralize Omicron variants, are in testing for sequential immunization in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates -- and those tests are going well.

Most streets and shops are empty. Majority of Chinese won't take the risk of getting infected until the first wave is over. However, it wouldn't be long for people working in offices and factories to get infected. It is just unavoidable as Omicron is too contagious. MSM just can't give it a rest. Their hope of some sort of color revolution was put down before even began but each day there are still a dozen of reports regarding those protesters. Of course, the tone now is the inevitable and coming disaster due to the Chinese government relaxing zero covid policy.

I wonder what is more damaging to the economy, strict lockdowns in select outward facing cities allowing lockdown free economic activity in other provinces or the lifting of restrictions causing a generalised lockdown effect on consumer spending across the whole country.

Well it's too late to speculate now, we'll just have to see how long it takes before some semblance of consumer confidence to spend returns after covid-normal inevitably becomes a thing, whether through mass infection or proliferation of omicron specific vaccines.

Well, I have some bad news.
1、Cold and fever medicines are in short supply and expensive.
2、After my father came back from business trip, he began to have a fever on Saturday. After using the test strip, he found that his test result was "positive".
At present, my test result is still negative, but it is hard to say what will happen in the next few days.
3、Testing reagents are currently unavailable in pharmacies. I tried to buy some online, but it is now in the "12.12" shopping season, and the express delivery is very slow.

This is the latest protection plan, but to be honest, it means that we can only rely on personal protection:

——Limited by the real environment, most requirements are difficult for me to achieve.
