Any truth to this?

There has been a lot of research into Dogs sniffing out diseases recently, you have allergy identifying dogs, cancer sniffing dogs, seizure alert dogs etc.
The only problem is that training dogs to do such task is expensive and time consuming.
Guide dogs are many 10's of thousands of dollars each, so that is a lot of test kits worth.

Shanghai’s health authorities found seven community infections of Covid-19 for the first time in three days after formally ending the city’s lockdown, in a setback that underscores the challenges in completely blocking out the Omicron variant in one of the most congested cities on Earth.
Three of the seven cases in the Pudong and Jing’an districts showed symptoms, health authorities said at a press briefing.

Then the dog is easily infected by the virus. So the dog is one time use? Very expensive.

I remember coming across several articles in the past 2 years about dogs being able to detect Covid-19 infection. Did not pay much attention to them then.

However, Russia has developed Covid-19 vaccine for animals. So it will not be a one time use.
