How is that BS? Everyone knows that vaccines cannot guarantee protection from infection. Also please don’t populate this thread with one line statements like that. If you are going to argue against someone’s view, do so in a civilized manner and with evidence.
The guidelines for what constitutes an effective vaccine are set clearly by the WHO. They need to show measurable efficacy in reducing morbidity and mortality.

The idea of vaccines only reducing severity of symptoms is a modern construct, to cover for the waning effectiveness of western vaccines.

Over the past week Thailand reported an average of nearly 9,000 new Covid-19 infections per day, far higher than the months of single-digit cases during much of 2020. Despite the high infection rates, the country is moving to reopen to international travelers in a bid to save its tourism industry, which accounted for more than 11% of its GDP in 2019, according to Reuters.
From Monday, citizens from dozens of "low-risk" countries, including Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, can travel to Thailand without needing to quarantine. In a statement on October 12, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said the country couldn't afford to miss the December holiday period. "We must act quickly, but still cautiously, and not miss the opportunity to entice some of the year-end and new year holiday season travelers," he said.
I stop reading the article when I reach to the part that it claims UK and US as low risk countries. The UK and US are actually the two nations with highest daily new cases. How on earth can they be low-risk?

@SteelBird bro congrats!!! You're a bonafide SDF member...lol joking aside I'm afraid HERE we may see an increase in cases as many FIL-AM will be coming back to spend their Christmas holiday.

Argh. That is terrible, That is how the virus spread uncontrollably in Brazil when the affluent Brazil vacationers returned from their European vacation.
@Dolcevita bro I'm with you, I'm against DUAL PASSPORT ( every Filipino had the right to come home), it's an Imperialist policy and anti Filipino (loyalty to your country). The bravest to protest and the loudest to declare their affinity with us BUT FIRST TO LEAVE when danger is imminent...lol Bro don't believed what you read in WESTERN MSM especially polls, I have lots of relatives in the state on my mother side and I have low opinion among them, the white privilege mentality is so pervasive and in tuned that they look down on us here even though we owed our business and earned more....lol. And I'm not alone most middle class Filipino share the same sentiment. I'm talking politics here my apologies for deviating.

Walvax is still in Phase III, so no new development. Don't expect a miracle though. From immunogenicity data it's expected to be as effective as Clover's protein subunit vaccine, in other words better than AZ and J&J but worse than Moderna and Pfizer. But being as good as Clover would already be a success. Don't forget how CureVac failed. Walvax has much more relaxed storage requirement than Moderna and Pfizer too, so more suitable for developing countries. If successful it can really help building China's mRNA vaccine supply chain.

So, are you saying that Pfizer is the best currently ?

I'm not a doctor and not qualified to recommend what's "the best". At best I have an investor's understanding of the situation.

With that said, while Pfizer induces lower level of antibodies and has a lower efficacy compared to Moderna, it's up to the vaccine makers, after getting Phase I data, to choose a regimen to best balance between safety and efficacy. Clover is a good example. After Phase I they had a choice of either using a GSK adjuvant or a Dynavax adjuvant. The immunogenicity data for the GSK adjuvant version was outstanding (the best in the world in fact, even better than Moderna) but Clover decided to go with Dynavax for less side effects.

Anyway, Walvax's immunogenicity data predicts good upper-mid tier efficacy (higher than AZ but lower than Pfizer). As it's a new tech vaccine not predicted to beat the best of traditional tech (Clover, Novavax, etc), I'd say its significance would be 1) more vaccine supply and 2) building up the domestic supply chain. Although to be fair the "traditional tech" vaccines I listed both use advanced adjuvants so not entirely old tech. The same for new French inactivated vaccine which beats out AZ but also uses the same Dynavax adjuvant Clover (and Taiwan's Medigen) uses. China needs to develop its own advanced adjuvant.

I think it is safer to say that Pfizer is the most famous Covid-19 vaccine currently because it is made by Germany with mRNA technology and marketing by the US.
@SteelBird bro among my Filipino doctor friends they say SINOPHARM is the best and unfortunately our FDA mishandle its approval all because of Politics. The company executives just walk away, even with the intervention of the Chinese ambassador after the Presidential guard inoculation controversy which SINOPHARM donated 1,000 doses as a goodwill gesture. Luckily SINOVAC had taken heed and take the challenge as a face saving venture by the Chinese gov't. Their rankings as follow 1)SINOPHARM 2) MODERNA and SINOVAC TIED 3)PFIZER 4)SPUTNIK 5)AZ. Sputnik would have a higher rank IF we had ample supply ready, most of those who took the first dose need to be injected by SINOVAC because of supply scarcity and actually had perform better than PFIZER.

I have nothing against Fil-Am. Nothing wrong with visiting as long as they are mindful and take precaution to not cause more pandemic. Notice how quickly the infection rate came down in Tokyo after all the arrogant unvaccinated and no-mask idiot olympians left.
