No, there hasn’t been any official results as far as I know… but from the numbers in the article, so far I wouldn’t be too worried yet…

the whole point of the vaccination was to reduce the rate of death and hospitalisation… as stated in the article the majority are asymptotic but they don’t give the actual figures on the hospitalisation so it’s hard to say the effectiveness on this front… as for deaths went from 158 in jan 2021 (before vaccination) to 13 in may 2021 (after vaccination), that’s roughly a 92% reduction…

it needs to be said that these numbers are from frontline workers with the highest risk plus as the article stated they relaxed the prevention measures which is a no no…

anyway the article seems to want to paint a picture of ineffectiveness which is objectively not true from the numbers presented by the article itself…

"majority are asymptomatic"

Germans just concluded that the likelihood of asymptomatic transmission is in fact very low.

You can get anything to have a positive corona test if you set the PCR cycle high enough.

Also, PCR tests cannot distinguish between live viruses and dead genetic fragments, so they are probably picking up residue from the vaccine itself lul.

The West, actually 99% of commenters still don't understand the nature of the virus and how overhyped it was.

Very good explanation, thank you. The article did seem alarmist when you just take it at face value without further analysis.

Over the past four days, 28 elderly people in eight cities and counties across Taiwan were reported to have died after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine
On Tuesday (June 15), Taiwan began inoculating its citizens with 1.24 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that was donated by Japan on June 4
Lmao they actually used the Japanese (who knows if some had even expired..) AstraZeneca vaccines. This is what happens when you play political games with the health of the people

Taiwanese should go and take vaccines in the mainland and drop the Japanese and "muh Oxford quality" defective products

RIP to these people who were murdered by their gov

You are welcome. Yea from the title they are definitely trying their hardest to be alarmist and an obvious attempt to paint ineffectiveness… also they haven’t really mentioned the biggest number of all… like 100,000+ vaccinated medical personnel whom the Indonesian gov tracked in order to find the real world effectiveness of the sinovac vaccine in the first place…

Vaccine tourism is pretty popular in Taiwan now. The rich go to the U.S. (Guam if they want convenience) and the less affluent to mainland China.

Oxford-Astrazenica is not an approved vaccine use in your country so you have nothing to worry about.

Well you don’t have to worry about that one. The FDA didn’t give it an emergency authorization despite millions of AZ vaccines literally sitting in storage facilities in the US.

If the 100,000+ figure can be confirmed, CNA is very dishonest in its assessment of the result and really tries to put a negative spin on the reputation of the vaccine.

350/100000+ is less than 0.35% of breakthrough infection, meaning 99.65%> effectiveness. Most of them are asymptomatic meaning that the efficacy rate against symptomatic infection is even higher than 99.65%>.

Compare above to this (from the article itself) :

It cited a study in the UK, which showed that two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine gave about 88 per cent protection against symptomatic COVID-19, even with the Delta variant.

The protection rate would be less than 88% (70% or even less?) if the asymptomatic infections are included.

Just realized I've not compared the figures to a placebo group (which would be nonexistent as all the doctors/health personnel were vaccinated) and also the time period the vaccinated group was monitored. This makes everything complicated.

The longer the time period the vaccinated group was monitored, the more of them will have a breakthrough infection before the figure starts to stabilize. Otoh, theoretically all of those in the placebo group will get infected given a long enough time.
