I think that this news is for an additional 1 bln capacity to what they thy have. I dont think that they already have 3 bin extra

China should reserve more vaccine raw materials and become the largest vaccine maker in the world. Why was India the largest vaccine maker? China now has a couple of local covid-19 vaccines. The demand for covid-19 booster and variants dosages will be big.

I guess if using other countries' work and slapping a Made in the USA badge on doesn't cut it anymore, just throw them under a bus!

How about these upcoming Chinese mRNA vaccines? Do they possess the main patents for these vaccines?

It's really interesting how this Pandemic has played out so far. From the initial outbreak, to China's early missteps, to the "dramatic" lockdown of Wuhan and, to China beating its own outbreak, to South Korea, Italy, New York, to Trump's various tweets, to the race to develop vaccines, to the US celebrating that it had beaten China at vaccines, to China catching up in terms of vaccination speed and ramping up production, to India's outbreak, to WHO's approval of Sinopharm, etc etc.

This thread alone probably documented this whole pandemic really well. I'm really curious to see what's going to happen in the future.

I do know one thing for sure though, COVID-19 is not China's Chernobyl moment. Actually, quite the opposite might be true.

Yep. I wouldnt call TCM fake. Herbal medicine has long been the only medicine that the humans in the past used to cured diseases.

I would like to see more scientific studies to see what ingedients are responsible for these medicines so that we can advance a pure science-based approach for medical care.

Ideally we would want something to be 100% studied and scientifically explained before using it as a medicine but obviously our current capabilities are lacking which is why there is still TCM.

Labs should be set up in order to research every herbal medicine down to the very small detail so that we can advance our scientific knowledge

My take:

If the TCM has been proven, don't be leery of it if it can save you time or life. A common herb, danggui, has been proven to reduce the effect of hangover by 60% or so, IRC. I brewed a pot for my father after a drinking challenge, and he was a normal as day the next morning, which shocked everyone. But you need to be careful of fake doctors and unproven cure or therapy.

My personal experience.

Two years ago, I had pain in my elbow region and tingling in my fingers. A TCM doctor administered acupuncture, massage with medicated oil and prescribed some medication. Did not work. The acupuncture was only a temporary relief.

So I went to the hospital and a specialist diagnosed the condition as tennis elbow. Wow, I never knew tennis elbow could be so painful and crippling. Tennis elbow has a number of causes so they performed a battery of test to get to the root of the problem. Specifically, the nerve test found out it was my C6 and C7 nerves in my lower neck that were the source of the problem. Surgery might be needed.

I looked up the internet for self-help therapy. The chin tuck routine sorted for me and I'm now back to normal.

Well, the Fosun one is based on Biontech's technology because they have a licensing agreement.

Its not a matter of patents per se its just very generous of Biden to grandstand and try to make everyone else look like the bad guys!

India was/is making generic AZ vaccines using foreign raw materials probably because the local climate is in the 30+ C territory and in a country that struggles to make and distribute enough oxygen finding low/ultra low temp refrigeration for 100s of millions of doses of moderna or Pfizer vaccine is probably an non-starter! Same probably goes for most of the global south, so the IP offer won't really benefit the poor/less developed countries instead it will 'salt the earth' for the other vaccines out there!

Thing is I think China will profit from the equipment and raw material sales for making the production lines for vaccines. For example Egypt just announced they've reached an agreement and plan to produce 40 million doses of sinovac this year for local use. In order to do that they will need facilities.

One of those win-win situations for China I suppose!

That is pure blatant western revisionist propaganda bullshit.

Western propagandists are being entirely facetious and disingenuous by applying hindsight and impossible standards to try to pin their own fuck ups in handling the pandemic on China.

When China locked down Wuhan, the collective response of the western MSM and governments was bemused belittling, with half of them openly laughing at China’s overreaction and the other half immediately manufacturing conspiracy theories about China covering something up. That is because they themselves would never ever have even considered locking down such a huge and important city with what little evidence that was available at the time. Hell, even how you have many die hard morons in the west still resisting lock downs and masks!

They are nitpicking about hours and days, when China was still gathering data and trying to figure out what it was dealing with.

Funny they never applied anything remotely like as ridiculous a standard in assessing their own handling of the pandemic, when they wasted months doing nothing but playing petty political games and giving blatantly shitty and obviously politically driven ‘medical advice’ like masks being useless and washing your hands would be sufficient, to combat a fucking airborne respiratory disease!
