A lot of innovations on display from SNEC 2023. I like the PV cleaning robot from Sunpure, HW's energy management products and the balcony PV. A lot of interesting stuff on display.

And even more importantly, the capacity expansion is just unbelievable.

I really think they will have a renewable boom over the next few years.

I discussed today's huge Longi price cut in solar wafers. As I covered a while back, polysilicon prices are just crashing. as such, solar wafer prices will drop. As Chinese solar equipment makers increase their market share, production costs will continue to come down. Solar panels will get even cheaper than now.

Another thing I noticed are wind turbine makers Sany & Mingyang getting into PVs. I mean are PVs so easy that anyone can just get involved and have competitive products? It appears so to me at least.

It won't be long before solar power would truly out compete all types of energies without subsidies.

solar power in China has been cheaper than coal power for a couple of yrs now. The issue is not its costs, but rather its low utilization rate. At current pace of drop, offshore wind will be the cheapest source of energy in a few years. Onshore wind is even cheaper than solar IIRC

I just tweeted about this.

I have the different projects in the chart there. 7GW provincial level projects and 16GW from state

I think this is great example of why Chinese renewable growth will blow past all expectations

Bloomberg as usual is wasting time talking about coal installations being installed as backups and underestimating the speed at which these wind projects can be brought online.

one more of my rant about PVs

I saw that Cainiao just got involved in PV logistics. It did so, because there are vast of money to be made both for domestic & export installations! That's why Huawei got involved also. We will see if Baidu & Tencent get involved. They are missing out in this renewable boom

And at some point, China will have to find solutions for solar recycling, refurbishment & re-use

how cheap can onshore wind LCOE get? I was asked this on twitter and thankfully I just saw a piece on this and it's quite fascinating, so I posted a new piece on this

The amazing part is that wind LCOE in China can get as low as 0.10RMB/kwh, which is 1/3 the lowest wind LCOE in Germany! Much of that is just lower turbine, base, tower cost. But China also has lower transportation, installation costs & other costs. As we further transition to a green economy. China's green energy will likely be far cheaper than EU green energy.

The best part I look forward to is the export of these giant typhoon-grade turbines to all places of the world. The Mingyang, Sany, etc, logos will be excellent PR.

With all the new energy installation, how will it affect the seabourne import of coal oil and LNG?
