From Henri k blog this is an excellent use of old plane
Chinese logistics giant SF Express's FH-98 cargo drone made its first commercial flight today, between Ningxia and Inner Mongolia. Derived from the Y-5B transport aircraft, the #drone can transport up to 1.5t of cargo over a distance of 1200 km

A cheap way to resupply those islet in SCS with medicine, mail, vital spare parts, foods

I doubt it is meant or capable of delivery in SCS. The max distance is 1200km, as you have shown the distance in SCS is 1146.61km, the aircraft can not return to base after delivery and will then occupy the tiny airstrip preventing further resupply. Besides, China is not short of delivery capability, there is SH-5, then the new AG600.

The image of this drone was taken in Hefei, Anhui province. Do we know what aerospace/drone makers are based there? It could be that BeiHang passed the design to an Anhui-based company to manufacturer.
CCTV news reported Xi's visit to Hefei today. One of his itineraries is this newly openned exhibition center "

" (a museum) demonstrating anything that involves innovative works carried out in Hefei which is designated to be developped into an innovative center. For example, there are BOE OLED demo, Xiaomi's prototype phone ALPHA etc. These companies have operations all over the country, some of their product being shown in this exhibition center only means that Hefei did something, but not necessary that there is key operation, R&D center or factory in Hefei. There is a state fund backing Hefei's ambition, there is certainly incentitive for someone like the Helicopter developper to open a R&D office in Hefei or even a factory.

Well what about refueling in SCS base they do have fuel station there. Fuel come in fuel tanker

^idk 1.5 tons is really not much capacity when we're talking about supplying a large naval base.

Of course you cannot depend completely on air transport as I said before on selected item that cannot wait the long ship journey. thing like medicine, electronic spare parts, personal mail, certain difficult to get food like milk, ,meat, vegetable, condiment etc. They still need ship resupply for sure.

It takes 4 days to travel from Hainan to SCS and if you need medicine fast what are you going to do?. Or medivac? Those bases are crammed with electronics gear and thing break down for sure.

There are not that many people on those bases yet max 1000 with regular service they should be no problem to resupply with urgent items

so you have a small truck that deliver something that also need another truck to deliver fuel for it. In the mean time you have a big truck idling in your garage that can deliver a lot more in one go.

Why all the trouble of refueling then?
