Probably because of low manufacturing rate.
I think if the manufacturing rate increased then they would invest into automating the assembly line further.
China needs to make the L-15 the only standalone jet trainer aircraft and crank up the production.
The aircraft has huge export potential and can be used as a light attack craft if so required.

Pilots still go through CJ-6 for basic training before progressing onto JL-9/JL-10 for advanced training. Scroll back a couple pages and you'll see pictures of the cockpits of the CJ-6's having their gyro vacuum indicators replaced with glass-cockpit panels.Wath hapend whith turboprp basic training?
