Chinese strategy in the UN

Have any of you actually read the report? Its not nearly as damning against china as the media is making it out to be and in fact refutes the major claims against china, genocide and slave labor.

here’s a good youtube summary.

It's not as damning, but still far from the truth and China's official position. The fact that China MFA explicitly refuted it and China's UN envoy replied with a long debunking article shows that China is very pissed at this report.
China even rallied more than 60 countries to reject this report.

should just run with it. Anytime someone brings up Xinjiang can just go, see the report says no genocide and no forced labor. Torture? Sure, we had to enhanced interrogations on terrorists, but that's our prerogative in order to protect our citizens and something all countries have done and will do.

If China ran with it, it would be give an inch, take a mile situation. Western propagandists would run around shouting that China admits to GeNoCiDe, even though China admits to no such thing.

the report specifically supports that no genocide happened.

And look what the western media is saying and how the brainwashed masses gobble up that propaganda.
Frankly, the content of the report is not important since it is just a long essay saying China may have committed genocide but we don't have definitive proof.
China should and will not accept any report that sows uncertainty regarding the Xinjiang human rights issue.

It's a very weak showing by the chilean head. She saw the two sides, one correct (China) and one making up bullshit without evidence (uygur separatists) but instead of standing with the correct side she decided to "go in the middle" and say that both sides may be right. Most likely caved to western pressure.

Too late now. All western propaganda outlets are going to be harping on the claim that China "may have" committed this and that, blah blah.

I've even seen traditionally "non aligned" countries reporting with the insinuation that China was in the wrong. Like it or not, an official UN report still has more sway than direct propaganda from think tanks.

She did caved to western pressure. Her career and probably personal safety as well were on the line, and she chose to save herself over sticking a neck out for China. The US govt has multiple ways to ruin a person's life - damage your reputation via media smear campaign, put your name on a blacklist so you can't even open a bank account, CIA-assisted "accident", Meng Wanzhou style airport kidnapping and arrest, etc..

IMO, 99 out of 100 people would do the same in this type of situation because they value their own life over taking a bullet for someone else. It sucks but that's just how it is.

Even though China is doing extremely well when it comes to economic development, the country still doesn't have a lot of influence at these international organizations (UN, WTO, World bank, etc.). As a result, the US can easily use the organization as a weapon to bash China.
