This humongous 300,000-ton ferry is 200 meters long, 30 meters wide, has 12 decks, 14 VIP suites, can hold 1,800 passengers, and has a crew of 180 people, plus hold 600 cars.

Algerie Ferries -- Badji Mokhtar III
I assume that's just a typo on tonnage. There is no way a 200 metre ferry displaces 300,000 tons, which is supertanker territory. They typically clock in around 30k tons though.

Hello. Sorry to bother, but I'm searching for a video someone shared some time ago on SDF. It's about a next generation hydraulic presse machine I think, and it was related to the type 055 production. The machine was composed of numerous pistons pressing on a steel plate at different length to bend it as wanted. I would like to know if anyone knows what the name of this technology, or where I can find the video.

Thanks you very much.

DSIC, as in Dalian, gets an order for two large container ships.

This one is a sea port project but I will put this here anyway.

This is an interesting read, shows you why a country needs a modern and efficient tanker fleet.

Chinese shipbuilders are seeing a massive surge in orders, despite the South Koreans taking the LNG carrier crown. I would think a lot of the new orders to Chinese shipyards are container ships and bulk freighters the two niches which the Chinese shipbuilders are well established. Chinese shipbuilders are clawing tooth and nail against South Korea for LNG carrier new builds, but South Korea is very strong in this field. There is now almost no other competitors in the LNG carrier field except for China and South Korea, the last LNG carrier order for Japan was already some years ago.

I can expect this massive surge of orders coming from the rise of all shipping rates, whether its oil, gas, container or bulk freight.

This video goes back to 2017, shows you how enormous these bulk freighters are, these built in China are contracted for an Australian company.

Clarkson Research reported on May 11 that 98 ships that add up to 3.05 million CGT were ordered worldwide last month and Chinese, South Korean and Finnish shipbuilders won 53 (1.64 million CGT), 34 (1.19 million CGT) and two (80,000 CGT), respectively.

Last month, Chinese shipbuilders raised their market share to 54 percent whereas South Korean shipbuilders’ fell to 39 percent. The latter topped the market from November last year to March this year but the former overtook them in five months. In March this year, 55 percent and 42 percent of the new orders went to South Korean and Chinese shipbuilders, respectively.

The cumulative orders for the first four months of this year are 15.43 million CGT, up 172 percent from a year ago. The volume, which is almost 300 percent of that recorded in the trough of 2016, is implying another super-cycle in the industry.

The worldwide order backlog was 76.95 million CGT at the end of April, which increased for the third consecutive month. It includes 38 percent of Chinese, 32 percent of South Korean and 11 percent of Japanese shipbuilders.

So what?

My statement is still hold true: Korea is still strong in sales & technology, and this year they regain position #1.

Did I say they will keep being no 1 the whole year 2021? LOL. Whats your problem?

The problem is that your statement holds true for only up to March. From April, China overtook them. Another problem is saying they regain position #1, as it is premature.

If you had made that statement before the latest report came online, I would not have cared.

Granted you were not aware of the latest data, but now that I had posted the latest data showing the different ranking, you couldn't take it for what it was, as if I was going after your pride.

It is not even about taking it like a man, it's nothing personal. Here, we correct one another all them time, and I was doing it with hard facts, not subjective opinions.

For me, I feel enriched by mostly fact-based people like Tam, Taxiya, Gelgoog and of course, opinionated members like Ougoah, Xsizor, Assassinmace, plawolf, etc, etc.

Doesnt matter Korea take over China only in Q1 2021. It still prove that Korea is still strong in shipbuilding both sales and technology. It can surpass China in spite of a short time after so long behind China is already an achievement.

I never bet that Korea will be surpassing China whole 2021 and retain this position for long.

Also my most important point that Korea is still ahead in commercial shipbuilding technology at the moment is correct.

Nobody is downplaying S.Korea here. It is damn impressive that they have cornered the shipbuilding industry by themselves for so long.

As for future market share, we will see
