Is BOE OLED the same as AMOLED from Samsung?

AMOLED is basically a marketing term, almost any screen bigger than a stamp is going to be "Active Matrix"

I haven't seen anything mass market with passive screens since the GameBoy (OG grey one with 4 AAs) and old-azz 90's laptops that can definitely be classified as deadly weapons due to their heft.

Suzhou Peifeng Tunan Semiconductor Co., Ltd. is trying to fill the gap in one area of China semiconductor design that there are not many players or zero players I think: Process Simulation and TCAD. The piece of software that the stooges in D.C. banned from being sold to China a few years ago.
China have EDA companies for Analog and Digital design like X-EPIC, Empyrean EDA, Xpeedic and so on but for process simulation I haven't seen anyone.

------------------------------------
Suzhou Peifeng Tunan Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Pei Feng Tunan") has persisted in independent research and development and innovation investment, overcome numerous challenges, and has always continued to charge around the "city wall" of TCAD. In 2022, the 3D device simulation tool will be delivered. In 2024, the 3D FinFET process simulation tool will be sent to a domestic leading chip manufacturer for the first time, and Peifeng Tunan will become the only domestic manufacturer to commercialize TCAD.

With 3D TCAD "sharp tool" in hand, Peifeng Tunan points to the next goal - a virtual wafer factory based on "digital twins", marking a new stage of independent innovation for domestic EDA companies and opening the door to a tens of billions market. At the same time, its core value in the domestic industrial chain has become increasingly prominent.

Peifeng Tunan, domestic TCAD takes the lead in breaking through

It is precisely because of the high industry barriers that for many years, few domestic companies have been able to reach the C position in the TCAD field. Even some powerful EDA companies with positive R&D capabilities find it difficult to truly gain a foothold in this field.
This situation will change with the emergence of Peifeng Tunan in 2021.

Peifeng Tunan has two wholly-owned subsidiaries, Suzhou Kejingda Electronics Co., Ltd. and Moyan Computing Sciences (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., which were established in 2011 and 2018 respectively. Products cover OPC, TCAD, radiation resistance, Fab Service and other fields.

The founding team of Peifeng Tunan has been deeply involved in the industry for more than ten years. It is the earliest pioneer in the country to delve into the industrialization of manufacturing EDA. It is also one of the earliest EDA companies in China based on the development of independent intellectual property rights. It has the most luxurious manufacturing EDA scientists in the industry. As for the team, Peifeng Tunan’s core R&D personnel mostly come from first-tier manufacturers, and it is the only manufacturer in China that manufactures all types of EDA tools.

In terms of TCAD products, since the launch of software research and development in 2007, after nearly 20 years of development, Peifeng Tunan has now established a complete TCAD tool, covering various processes and devices for different customers, which can achieve multi-physics, multi- Comprehensive physical simulation in time and multiple spatial dimensions, it is also the only manufacturer in China to implement commercial applications of TCAD.

At present, Peifeng Tunan's complete TCAD product matrix includes device simulation tool Mozz Device, process simulator Mozz Process, multi-physics simulator GK-Photonics; Mozz Workbench serving integrated application environments, and 2D/ 3D graphical interface tool Mozz Visual, architecture editor Structure Editor; Unicom design direction SPICE rapid modeling tool Mozz Extract, parasitic parameter extraction tool Mozz RCEx and 3D TCAD model construction tool Gds2Mesh, etc., through commercial implementation and customer feedback, product performance All can be compared with leading overseas EDA competing products of the same type.

Latest DJI drones are using CXMT as well. It is well established at this point.
And Transsion and Redmi. Hopefully Xiaomi will use it too in the future.
They are supposedly almost maxing out phase 1 fab this year. And adding 40k wpm for phase 2. that's maybe 150k wpm altogether?

Sounds like a lot until you consider that the big guys are in the 2+ millions wpm range. So Chinese firms still have a long way to go in memory chip sector

CETC had 5 more chips pass auto grade certification

1 chip is for signal chain, which does the work of sending and receiving, converting, amplifying, and filtering analog signals

other 4 are all logic chips for control & performing logic operations. They have small size and low power consumption. Can be used in NEV OBC

Huawei saved YMTC, BOE, oFilm and other Chinese suppliers when they were desperate for orders.

And i think Huawei did this because they were facing severe sanctions and understood the need to develop domestic supply chain
i think more companies will follow Huawei .. using more and more domestic components as they proved their quality in Huawei flagship mobiles ..

Its good to see that Huawei is kind of taking that role of apple and their Iphone. If apple orders from you your product is instantly recognised as a AAA quality product.

How much production will increase for each company in 2024 due to the expansion of the SMIC, YMTC, CXMT, line?
So what is China's chip self-sufficiency rate now and how much will it go up in 2024?
Also, what is the self-sufficiency rate of semiconductor equipment and materials in China?

YMTC and CXMT doubled their floorspace last year. You should expect their production to double over the next two years.
SMIC is currently undergoing a huge expansion program as well. Doubling the floorspace at their FinFET fab at SMSC, and building several 100,000 wafers per month 28nm fabs (Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin). SMIC should more than double their production once the expansion program is over.

Just curious, do you know what that means in terms of global market share? Are they still going to be in the low single digits? Last I heard (maybe outdated) SMIC was ~6 percent, YMTC also ~6 percent, CXMT ~3 percent or less
