. One thing I noticed is that the image claims China has 14.8% of the world's 8mn wafer capacity (8" equiv., 3.55mn in 12" equiv.) on the 20-10nm nodes. This number has to be wrong, SMIC has only about 15k/month wafer capacity on 14nm (34k/month in 8" equiv.), and Shanghai Huali should only be in the early stages of 14nm production (close to 0k/month). That should make China's share of 20-10nm less than 1%.

Am I missing a huge amount of capacity somewhere else at a Chinese fab, or is this just a clear mistake from ICInsights?

Also, simplifying a takeover of Taiwan as China only wanting to gain advanced node technology seems to oversimplify the situation.

). This chart isn't foundry capacity, it is overall capacity which includes memory.

@Nutrient bro it will bound to succeed cause if we based it in economic theory, scarcity produced opportunity. Its the greatest motivator! profits are there to be taken no amount of monopolistic power the US hold will impede the Chinese. We are more capitalistic than them, we are more numerous and had better business acumen, that combination is why the West , the US in particular is so afraid of us.

I think China's main advantages are: a huge economy, a stable and intelligent government, an educated population (meaning for example lots of engineers), an excellent infrastructure, and a lot of room for further growth. No other country in the world has all of these, and that is why the US is so frightened.

Do we have a list of the most advanced Chinese machine producers of pvd, cvd solutions? Amec, Naura who else? If I understand correctly we need also pvd and cvd to make engines like ws-10?

PVD/CVD for mechanical, semiconductor IC and optoelectronics applications are vastly different due to different film chemistry, different substrates, thicknesses (differing by orders of magnitude), precision (differing by orders of magnitude), substrate form factor, etc.

AMEC and Naura are for semiconductor and optoelectronics, mechanical applications should be someone else though not sure.
