ooh interesting, wondering when I will get a update for HarmonyOS on my p40 pro?
Also wondering when they will open up the HarmonyOS sdk here in Europe and when they will reveal their desktop variant of HarmonyOS.

This Xiaomi's guts!

Who do they think they are?

Unless they are already developing their own OS (possible..) then they should adopt HarmonyOS and stop draggin their feet on ripping out US tech

Or maybe Xiaomi has been informed by Google that they'll get cutoff from their services if they adopt this. I believe majority of Xiaomis revenue comes from outside China and they don't want to lose that market.

Its not up to Google. There are clear rules, and contracts on place on if Google can ban them. Otherwise this is clearly a monopolistic action.

The only way they get banned is if the US Gov sanctions Xiaomi which in that case would be a different case altogether

Most likely this, the west will spin Harmony OS as a android clone(they already did) and as a spy operating system for the PLA. For Chinese manufacturers that will adopt Harmony OS outside of China they might get cut off from getting new supplies etc. The US will push its lawfare machine to the max to prevent HarmonyOS penetration in the west.

@Kaeshmiri bro, I think you're correct, but Xiaomi will used both cause if not their business operation in China will be affected as most consumer equipment with 5G application will also be using Harmony OS.

Google is a massive corporation and rest assured if it gave Xiaomi the license for its services it will have kept a flexible contract. Nothing would stop them from ending business with Xiaomi.

I believe every Chinese smartphone should be induced to use Harmony OS. This way it will create critical mass to improve the system to work flawlessly.

Huawei is forbidden from using Google. If it weren`t, there is nothing to stop using google play even on Harmony OS. Maybe not pre-installed, but I can`t see why it could not be installed after sale.

One must not forget also that where google makes money is from the apps in its App store, NOT from the pre-installed Android OS. They will definitely appreciate if Harmony allows people to buy from Google`s App store.
