Good point. The combined lithograph components of China and Japan would be able to have a working commercial EUV lithograph machine up and running in a year. It would be able to do single exposure 7nm from the get go and quickly advance to 3-5nm soon afterwards. Both countries semiconductor industries would take off. However, we both know that will never happen.
@krautmeister bro, it will give ASML and CYMER a run for their money instead of a monopoly, the end result is the destruction of American imperialism. And for the US it will be like the 2nd Pearl Harbor attack especially coming from the Japanese.

According to Havok, 0.1~0.2μm is enough for DUV. EUV need 0.05μm though.

On May 18, 2021, Beijing PMT Co., Ltd. and the team of Dr. Yang Huaijiang, Guowang Optics, Changchun Institute of Optics and Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, developed the lithography machine objective lens system ultra-precision grinder ULTR-700VG passed the National Machine Tool Quality Supervision and Inspection Test Central inspection. The accuracy of the grinder is 0.1~0.2μm, which optimizes environmental interference and can be stable to 0.1μm. The next target has a diameter of 2000mm and an accuracy of 0.05μm. Such high-precision ultra-precision CNC machine tools have important strategic and economic significance for my country's chip, optics, aerospace, and defense industries to break through foreign blockades and realize the independent and controllable development of high-precision technology and equipment.

@krautmeister bro Ren Zhengfei is one of them , I'm thankful that Trump had initiated this tech war, now every Chinese company is a target, a rude awakening shaking those Chinese white worshipper. They're lucky that CPC is strong and will support them. All they have to do is work hard , coordinate as a team and focus on a common goal. Bro it is happening with Huawei Harmony OS being adopted by other Chinese smartphone manufacturers

(third-largest mobile phone OS after Android and iOS) is expected to start a large-scale push in June at the earliest officially. It is estimated that Mate40, Mate30, P40, Mate X2 series mobile phones will be updated.
Recently, news has been revealed that Huawei Harmony OS is planning to adopt Qualcomm’s platform. As per the Weibo blogger, Harmony has a plan for adapting the Qualcomm platform very early, not only for the Qualcomm platform but also, other platforms such as MediaTek.

In addition, many manufacturers have begun to accept Harmony OS, not only in home appliances or automobile companies but also some mobile phone manufacturers are also contacting and have plans to adapt it. This includes some Chinese smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, and Meizu.
It is also reported that the pattern of the Android era does not represent the future. Previously, it was reported that some users had received the push of the Harmony OS 2.0 developer Beta version, and some experience videos of Harmony OS mobile phones have appeared on the Internet.
It is also known that “Huawei Terminal Company Limited” has recently launched the official Weibo of “Huawei HarmonyOS,” which means that the official version of the Harmony system will also start to operate.
Earlier, Wang Chenglu (President of Huawei Consumer Business Software) stated that Harmony OS is for all devices and can be multi-terminally transferred and deployed. It is a new intelligent terminal operating system, different from the traditional concept of iOS and Android systems.
Still all speculations. I've been looking forward to HarmonyOS myself, but I'm still sceptical that many Chinese smartphone makers other than HUAWEI will adopt HarmonyOS, unless they too are banned from including Google apps. I'm not even convinced if HUAWEI would continue to stick to HarmonyOS if Google is again allowed to work with HUAWEI. Because they sell globally and they want to sell Google-compatible smartphones for success. Honor, which is now separated from HUAWEI, is planning to launch new smartphones with Google services based on Android.
It's not about Android itself but the Google apps that matter. Personally I don't use and don't want Google's services but seems most other people are different and can't live without Google.
They could adopt the two OS separately - a HarmonyOS version for the Chinese market and an Android version for the global market but it must be too demanding for companies to develope two different customized software versions.

Just read this below, how can you not be awed by their ambition. Huawei BEST Chinese company

Its a business decision.

Xiaomi, VIVO and the rest can produce 2 lines of phones, one for the export market and the other for domestic market, as they do now.

The Android variant that is sold in China already lacks all the Google Mobile Services that is the key to the Google ecosystem. Since the Chinese consumer continue to buy Android phones without GMS, then the transition could be pretty seamless.

All Huawei needs to do is charge less or nothing for Harmony OS to be installed on Chinese domestic phone, as you stated.

The Chinese software ecosystem has been a weak link for Chinese phone maker. As long as Huawei present s valid business case in terms of profit sharing, there is no reason why BBK and Xiaomi would not see it as a risk mitigation alternative.

Harmony OS is works similar to Android, but uses mini-kernels, refining resource management and security. From a dev perspective, it's not really a whole new software, as most of Android apps would work natively, with some needing a wrapper to work.

I imagine the idea is to grow this alternative ecosystem over the span of 5-10 years by increasing the user base and incentivizing app developers. Once a viable alternative is up and running, and or thriving, then you can sit back and wait for your competitor to fuck up or some other disruptive tech to come along and make current smartphone the equivalent of a Nokia.

Since Harmony could be integrated into cars, PC and other electronics, it could come with some killer capabilities that Android and IOS just could not match.

BTW, anyone notice how sad/crude Apply Carplay and Anroid Auto looks.
